when you consume alcohol and choose to get in your car, you are putting other people in danger as well as yourself. If you can’t see while you are driving, that’s a huge problem. You might not see someone, and result in hitting them. If your reflexes are slowed, you can’t react as fast you may need to. You may also be driving way under the speed limit, and that can affect others driving, especially on a freeway. The video “Lives affected” had a lady speaking about her brother. She said to never “get in a car with a drunk driver” and to try your hardest to “prevent someone who is drunk from getting on the road.” If you see someone driving drunk, you should report them. You could be saving a life. There are so many people that have lost their lives because of a drunk driver, or being the one under the influence. You are hurting a lot of people when you drive drunk, and you are hurting yourself. You should never drive under the influence of any kind of drug, or the slightest bit of alcohol. These change the way you view and judge things that lead to more serious things. Nothing good comes from driving drunk, so don’t do

This A misdemeanor is accompanied by additional costs through court surcharges. Two time offenders within 10 years face up to four years in jail and license is revoked for 18 months in addition to receiving an E felony . Very few people set out to drive while impaired by alcohol. Instead, alcohol impaired driving results from a combination of decisions about drinking and decisions about driving, which brings the two acts together. A person willing to allow impaired friends to drive often arises from the need for a ride in the absence of an available designated driver. This can happen because the driver did not think of the need for a designated driver in advance, there was no sober passenger present, or the other drinking passengers were unwilling to drive, even though less impaired. In general, most people will not get into a car with a driver that had been drinking. Unfortunately, when under the influence, it is easy for one’s inhibitions to be thrown out the window. Far too often, the next thing being thrown of the window is the passenger. A recent study called, “High-Risk Drinking in College: What We Know and What We Need to Learn,” states that approximately half of fatal car accidents involving people ages eight-teen through twenty-four are associated with drinking. Too often, people do not think about the others they are affecting while drinking. A buddy of mine that attends UNCC with me decided to drink and drive under the influence and smashed into a tree. He was sent to the hospital with many broken bones and now lives back home because he was charged with a DWI. Those injured and killed in drunk driving collisions are not accident victims. The crashes caused by impaired drivers involve two choices: to drink AND to drive. The injuries and deaths sustained each year by drunk driving can be prevented. Those who choose to drive while impaired, have been informed of the dangers, however, decide to ignore the harsh facts. They will eventually end up facing injury or death to themselves or, even worse, someone else.
