Before, all branches of the armed forces within the United States refused to accept homosexual style personnel. With brand new policies in effect military wide, it allowed homosexuals to enter the military service without anyone else judging on whom they are and their beliefs. Specific religions will not accept because this is considered as a sin and a violation against god’s teachings, religion is a right for everyone to have not negative influence religiously. Homosexuals in the military want to join to serve their country because it is their choice not by option. The military lifted the ban of the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy in 2011 in order to fluctuate the numbers within the service to help keep the amount of military personnel revising the equal opportunity policies including the knowledge of homosexuals in the service. The origin came from when President Clinton was in office in the early 1990s’ when they created the “don’t ask don’t tell” in the military. Congress denied the bill due to; unworkable within the Supreme Court system. However, Homosexuals have found a way around the system to avoid the policy. Some were caught and others were able to stay in conducting their services and get out with partial to no benefits. With the community that was put out of the military for being gay, interviews from many news agencies were conducted and which majority of the answers that was told “they wanted to serve their country”.
