The beach is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Before visiting, I had only been to the four states, which is the stringy grassy fields, the forest of trees, the smelly white and black cows and pink curly tailed pigs. See I had never seen any other states but Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I love the picture in my head but it was nice to finally see something different. When my boyfriend, his little brother, and I went to Pensacola, Florida, it took about 14 hours of long driving. Eventually we made it. We passed through Arkansas. I had been to Rogers before, so none of that was new. We got into Van burean, I couldn’t believe my eyes. There were mountains of beautiful trees. All the hills with green were amazing. I had never seen anything like it. When we went down further into Arkansas, I couldn’t believe the poverty. It was bad. No, I am not racist, but there were black people in all directions. I was scared, because I had heard stories of bad events happening. We were asked if we wanted some pills, or cocaine and we didn’t even know the guy! I drove further, and further. After what seemed like ten years we arrived to Mississippi! I saw the Mississippi River for the first time! It was dark, but I embraced the moment of knowing I was beside it! It was spectacular. I saw a little of it when we crossed the bridge. It was absolutely soothing to see it. We drove deeper into Mississippi and stopped at a gas station. I couldn’t wait any longer to adventure on, so I told them to hurry up and get in the car. We finally arrived at Alabama. Dalton (which is Blake’s little brother) and my boyfriend (Blake) made me stop. They picked up some boiled peanuts. I had never tried anything like them before! When I put one in my mouth, it was unusual. It felt like a piece of a baby back rib. It melted in my mouth and I enjoyed them. Some were spicy and others were

What’s better to chill out a hot summer’s day than something sweet and cool? No, I am not talking about a Popsicle. I am not talking about an ice cream cone, either. I am not even talking about iced tea or lemonade. It is something better than all of those, and it doesn’t even have all the sneaky calories of those other tasty treats! The answer to the question is simple. Have you guessed it? It is a cherry.…

The living room, or family room, is generally considered the main gathering area in most homes due to the television being located there. However, this is not the case in the more than one hundred year old, light grey, two story home in which I live. The main attraction of this particular living room is the comforting atmosphere and warm fires that take place in the wood-burning fireplace.…

We took this trip during summer break. My wife and I decided this trip so all of our family can go together. My father in law and I were taking turns driving it took us about 12 hours to get to Louisiana. The ride was very exhausting for everybodyI had gotten tired so my father in law took the wheel. My wife woke me up as soon as we got to the bridge; to cross to Louisiana I was so excited to see the water and all the trees that she had told me about. We went to her uncles house to sleep and to stay for the trip. After we slept we went to New…

The very first thing I smelt when I walked out of the meager airport was diesel. It was my first time out of the country and I didn’t know what I was going to expect. Was it everything people told me it was going to be? Was it depressing? Scary? Heart wrenching? Why yes, yes it was. However, it was an experience I will never forget.…

I raced to the car and we swiftly drove off. I looked at the sign and it read Orlando, but I didn't realize that we were in Florida so I laughed and said, “Georgia has the same city?” My dad laughed and said, “No silly we are in Florida.” My eyes popped open so wide and I was extremely excited to be in Florida. It was exactly one hour for us to get to Disney World so we just enjoyed the scenery until then. When we finally got there we were happy to finally be in Disney World. The moment we got there we had fun and did so many things. Once we left Disney World we drove straight to Miami Beach. It was stupendous; I've never swam in the ocean, so I spent like an hour or two swimming and we continued our journey to the southernmost tip of America; Key…

be dealt with. But, in reality, this is seldom the case. The county courthouse looks like a typical courthouse. A Romanesque building, three stories high, with large pillars in the front, eloped in ivy which crawled up one side of the building, masqueraded by a fertile green, manicured, immaculately kept courtyard, blockaded with a vast variety of flowers and plants.…

The most magnificent place I’ve ever been is Puerto Rico. With its breath taking landscapes and the calm serenity of the ocean; Puerto Rico is one of the most relaxing and gorgeous places I’ve ever been. The mixes of several different Latin styles play a huge role in not only the music and dancing of Puerto Rico but, also the style of the wardrobe. The best part of Puerto Rico though is the amazing experience and adventures I’ve been on.…

“When you smoke herb, it reveals yourself to you,” is a famous quote of the pothead and marvelous musician Bob Marley. He felt as though marijuana helped tune in with your inner being. I believe cannabis that cannabis does this too and therefore have become a habitual marijuana consumer. Being in tune with ones inner being is important, yet not the reason that I smoke cannabis. The cannabis plant is beautiful, from the leaf to the buds you smoke. I love the ‘highs’ from smoking marijuana, and last but not least, I love how I can function while ‘high’. The summary is that little nuggets of joy have been crucial in making me who I am now, and I am grateful for everything marijuana has brought.…

I push the door open. The bell rings, with a soft but shrill ring. A wave of rubber gloves and disinfectant masked with air freshener smells are in the air . Chairs are cluttered in the waiting room of the dentists. Clusters of magazines lie on the wood coffee tables, shiny bright plastic showing logos and slogans. A little way forward from where I stand is a desk. A smiling receptionist sits there. She seems to have been expecting someone somehow, as she points me to go wait near the couches and chairs.…

People are always talking about being in those situations where time slows down to the point where a few seconds feels like a few minutes, well I didn’t exactly think that is what actually happened. Until a dreary, calm, dull spring afternoon in Briargate (located in Northern Colorado Springs), about a week after my fourteenth birthday, I decided that I was going to go down to this plentifully lush creek next to a well travelled bridge. While I was walking down the sidewalk which lead to a path in the creek these dogs that were always jumping on the fence and barking viciously, the fence was bent outwards at least a foot, I suppose that day I was elected by someone up above to run. About a minute after I walked past the fence I heard this loud cracking of wood. Sure enough as soon as I turned half way around two large mouthed, sharp teethed, muscular Dover mans had just broken through the fence.…

The burnt scent of roasted coffee tickled the tip of my nose just seconds before a noise so loud roared in my ear like a fire engine screaming through my bedroom. As I wiped the grit from last night's sleep from the corners of my eyes, the bright light hit them. I slung my arm like an elephant trunk on top of the alarm to find the snooze button. I heard a faint voice in the background calling my name. "Kayla, are you up?" echoed down the stairs in the deep male voice of my dad. While stretching my hands and feet to the four posts of the bed,I hesitantly answered "Yes" as my eyes opened after several watery blinks.…
