competitior analysis
My Name is Mark Gerber I am in Digby and I am analyzing Ferris.
What strategy is this competitor using? Give a short description of their current strategic position -- products, segments, plants, capital structure, source of competitive advantage, etc. Consider their product line from a “consumer reports” standpoint.
Ferris’s current strategy is to capture the most amount of market share by developing lots of products. They have two very good low tech products and three good high-tech products. They effectively utilize their plants and have high automation, which allow them to sell their products for less because they don’t have to spend money on labor. They have also invested heavily in employee training and TQM. Ferris’s products are very appealing to the customers because they have highest customer survey score in low tech and the 2nd highest score in the high-tech segment. All their products have 100% awareness and accessibly in the 90’s.

Compare the current position of your company with this competitor. What opportunities or threats do you see?
Ferris is doing much better than we are at Digby. They have better products. They have much higher market share in high-tech and low-tech segments. Overall their products are more accessible. But there is an opportunity for us in price. Even though they have automation of ten they are still charging 30 for their low tech products. This is an opportunity for us to charge less!

What actions should you take to compete with this competitor more effectively?
We also have automation of ten and are going to charge less, and spend a lot on our sales so out product is much more accessible. Our products are pretty much the same so because we are charging less we should be able to take some of their market share next round. I just hope they don’t drop their prices too!

Indicate the performance measures you should use to monitor your performance in relation to your competitor. (Cumulative profit, market share, ROA,
