Cloud Storage
Cloud storage is a model of networked online storage where data is stored on multiple virtual servers, generally hosted by third parties, rather than being hosted on dedicated servers.Hosting companies operate large data centers; and people who require their data to be hosted buy or lease storage capacity from them and use it for their storage needs. The data centeroperators, in the background, virtualize the resources according to the requirements of the customer and expose them as storage pools, which the customers can themselves use to store files or data objects. Physically, the resource may span across multiple servers.
Cloud storage services may be accessed through a web service application programming interface (API), or through a Web-based user interface. Contents [hide] * 1 Cloud storage advantages * 2 Potential concerns * 3 See also * 4 References |

[edit]Cloud storage advantages * Companies need only pay for the storage they actually use.[1] * Companies do not need to install physical storage devices in their own datacenter or offices, which reduces IT and hosting costs.[1] * Storage maintenance tasks, such as backup, data replication, and purchasing additional storage devices are offloaded to the responsibility of a service provider, allowing organizations to focus on their core business [1]

See also: Cloud computing security * Security of stored data and data in transit may be a concern when storing sensitive data at a cloud storage provider [1] * Performance may be lower than local storage [1] * Reliability and availability depends on wide area network availability and on the level of precautions taken by the service provider. * Users with specific records-keeping requirements, such as public agencies that must retain electronic records according to statute, may encounter complications

A main server that is big enough to route files in it for storage can help a computer and website run faster. Just as an external hard drive can store data on it away from a computer to free up the main hard drive can help a computer run faster. In this paper, the company that I have chosen has issues with server space and need a newer solution to developing a better service to the company and its production facilities. I will explain what it will take to boost service speed and help the company to ship products out faster with just a solution in server space.…

With the unprecedented growth and spread of information, there is no wonder why large Information Technology companies have been investing in the “cloud”. To expand, when referring to Cloud Computing, this means to access and store information not stored with in your computer whether it be public, private, or hybrid cloud computing. In technological terms, the server you are accessing is somewhere else and therefore, the information and tools you are using are “up in the clouds” but more so stored in another server space. However, whether you are paying for services through software, total usage, or free usage (hence the types of cloud services) Cloud Computing seems to be everywhere. Yet, it is important to recognize what is to gain by using cloud computing from big businesses to individual users and what are some risky moves when utilizing cloud storage over the Internet. Hence, the content of this paper will discuss the pros and cons of cloud computing and where cloud computing is headed in todays online society.…

Technology has taken great leaps of advancement. Some of the new technology that companies and consumers are taking advantage of to store and process data is cloud computing. Cloud computing was derived from virtualization. Virtualization allows companies to separate business applications from hardware. Doing this gives the company the capability of assigning applications as needed. The option to manage applications is a great benefit to companies. Resulting from the virtualization error, cloud computing has emerged to provide flexible IT infrastructures. This has not only enhanced the options companies now have, but it is also proven to be more cost efficient. This has increasingly become a preferred method of companies and consumers alike. Cloud computing is one of the leading buzz terms in the world of IT today. Seemingly every possible solution has been enhanced with the mere addition of the word “cloud”. Cloud computing refers to applications and services offered over the Internet. These services are offered from data centers all over the world, which collectively are referred to as the "cloud." This metaphor represents the intangible, yet universal nature of the Internet. The idea of the "cloud" simplifies the many network connections and computer systems involved in online services. In fact, many network diagrams use the image of a cloud to represent the Internet. This symbolizes the Internet 's broad reach, while simplifying its complexity. Any user with an Internet connection can access the cloud and the services it provides. Since these services are often connected, users can share information between multiple systems and with other users. Examples of this technology include online backup services, social networking services, and personal data services such as Apple 's MobileMe. Cloud computing also includes online applications, such as those offered through Microsoft Online Services. Hardware services, such as redundant servers, mirrored websites, and Internet-based clusters are also examples of cloud computing. ("Technology terms," 2009)…

The reason why I decided to pick this topic is because this cloud technology has never been as related to us as today. We take photos everyday and instantly upload to all kinds of social media and share to others by cloud service; discussing group work and editing documents through goggle drives with teammates without having actual meeting and backing up the data without consuming the storage of hardware. Nowadays cloud service has become kind of “fashion trend” so every relevant industries want to take advantage of it and become more competitive than their rivals. However the security of data accompanied the widely use of cloud computing is becoming the major concern which cannot be neglected any more.…

“Cloud” computing is the fanciest buzzword in the computer industry, currently surpassing the last big term “web 2.0”. Every big player in the computer industry launched a cloud service last year. Notable examples are iCloud by Apple, (Apple 2012) or Microsoft Cloud Services (Microsoft 2011), copying various innovators like Google or Dropbox, who offer similar services since much longer. The latter is the most successful company in the private usage of a file-cloud, since 2007 it has acquired over 50 million users (Dropbox 2012). The success of Dropbox lies more in its simplicity rather than its functionality, the company never uses words like sync or cloud, it simply works for the user (Carr 2011).…
