Changing Fashions
Fashions come and go and change rapidly with the years. Fashions come into style, then go out because people love change, variety and new things. No one wants to wear or use something that’s considered to be old. With the constant changing in the ideas of man, changes in style, manners, and attitude come about. When new fashions are established, it spreads very quickly, mainly among young teens and adults. The youth are more aware of what is going on in the society today – fashion wise - because they represent life in terms of courage and possibility. They want to look smart, and stylish in all aspects of life. They want to enjoy every moment of it.
With clothing, it is mostly based on where you live, economic means, and availability. In certain places, new designs of clothing may not be identified until a year or two after it has originally been made. One may say the design and fashion of clothing has barely changed at all. For example, in the 1940s, jeans that were broad at the end were considered to be bell bottom jeans, mainly because they resembled the shape of a bell. Over the years, the name was changed from bell bottoms, to wide legged jeans, and is now called boot cut jeans. The only thing changed about them was the name.
Films and the television shows are a great source of fashions and quick changes in trends. In recent times, capris, minis and tank tops were quite in fashion and now they are out of fashion. Now, skinny jeans, halter tops, and graphic t-shirts are in fashion. But fashion is unpredictable and keeps on changing according to the moods, and ideas of the people and the influence of the popular films. Therefore, it is not easy to identify what is fashionable. Fashions can also be influenced by eye-catching advertisements, fashion shows, fashion and dress designers, fashion magazines and one’s culture. Fashions can also be abused as well and become harmful when turned into an obsession. Then they mean waste of time,
