This is because if we use the example you have just come out of school and you have never had a job and you need to find one, then the different life skills that you can learn from volunteering in an organisation will be a good way to help you get a job, and also provide working experience.

So when you are volunteering in an organisation this may mean that you can gain new life skills. Gaining new life skills can be a very vital part to getting a job. This is because employers are looking for different skills that people have gained throughout there life and because everyone seems to have all the same qualifications at the moment, so having good life skills could be the decider between you getting the job and the other person.

Communication Skills – There are many different ways that you can use communication skills to your advantage. So if you are working for a charity that uses sign for certain people because they are deaf, then you are going to pick up part of the sign language and this means that you are going to look good when you apply for a job, and if you are apply for a job in the police or something like that then this is going to be a good skill to have because of the fact that the police need more

Yes, volunteering teaches you social skills and it looks good on a resume, but none of that stuff matters if you don’t have a good character. Your character is something that you can’t get rid of, but you can change. Volunteering can change you into a more patient, loving, and smart individual. In the past I’ve volunteered for the Carl Perkins Center, which deals with children who have been abused. Working with these children showed me how blessed I am. It made me more thankful, for my parents and family members. I made it my job to make those children happier than they were when I walked in. By the time I left I was the one who was more affected. Those children didn’t care about worldly things; all they wanted was your attention. This showed me that the gift of time is sometimes the best gift a person can…

Volunteering is similar to work but very different. This is because in volunteering the person does not receive a paycheck to accomplish the work that is needed to be done. The similarity is that an action is taking place no matter if you get paid or not. Many organizations even individuals need help. There are volunteer jobs that just require you to have genuine empathy for those in need. For example, New Orleans is in need of volunteers because of what happened with Hurricane Katrina. Many things were destroyed and many people died, but they are rebuilding and hopefully within time they will succeed in rebuilding. It is not just the rebuilding that needs to be done. Volunteering leaves the individual with a comforting satisfaction that they helped those in need. Unfortunately, not every one can do…

Volunteering requires time, effort, and talent but gives exciting impressions, helps to meet new people, acquaintances and gives an opportunity to help those in need. I began my first ever volunteer experience this year at The Boys and Girls Club. The Boys and Girls Club is designed to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to become productive, responsible and caring citizens. In the 1990s, their mission was to first establish clubs in the most challenged communities in America, such as public housing areas and Native American lands, where the work of starting clubs was hard, and sustaining them was even harder. The Boys and Girls Club is now one of the top ten nonprofit organizations in America. A safe place to learn, grow and have fun; state-of-the-art technology and learning centers; and, most important of all, trained professional staff who cares deeply and are dedicated to the success of every child who walks through the doors. The Boys and Girls club strive to develop and retain capable employees who will support the mission and goals of the club. Their are many different positions such as School Site Director, Social Worker, Library Tutor and much more. All of these positions require at least a High School diploma, and many of the others require at least some college experience.…

By giving your time and showing compassion for the people in need you will help them to feel comfortable getting the assistance that is so necessary to their survival and health. Volunteering is a way to help that has the ability to give back. There are many great benefits to volunteer work, and not only by helping people in need. According to Shayla in Benefits of Volunteering in College, volunteering can also "build your network", "strengthen your resume", and of course give you the knowledge to better understand the people you are giving your time to (Shayla). Building your network will be a vital part of life when trying to find jobs, internships, and make business connections. People you meet through volunteering have the ability to forever affect your life and may well continue to be a part of your life for years to come. What better place to meet people who share the same drive to help others as you do than at an organization who helps feed Americans in need? These hours will not go unnoticed on your resume either. "Scholarship committees love to learn how youth are helping their communities." These hours will not only be valued by the people they help, as you spend time helping others your outlook on life is changed by the skills and real life experience you gain from it. While giving your time you will see that people who are in need are no different from…

Each student has his own reason for volunteering. Many volunteer for the joy of helping others, and some volunteer to seek career opportunities. Simply volunteering at a place that is related to the career one is interested in will help him determine whether that career is suited for him. Bill Jensen, Superintendent of Curriculum for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation, agrees with community service being connected to career choices and provides examples. “We’ve seen students that have gone in to help at the hospital and all of a sudden see that the job is something they are really passionate about. Then we see some students that volunteer at the animal shelter and they find that they would never be able to euthanize an animal, so they have to consider finding a different career” (Jensen). Selecting a career is challenging enough, let alone discovering that the career one chose was not the best and having to choose another. Volunteering provides teens with opportunities outside of finding a career that gives them the necessary skills to help them survive the real world. Students will gain knowledge from volunteering that will lead to increasing their communication and interpersonal skills (Keeler). It can also help with the confidence of stretching one's wings at work, because he or she has already been taught the necessary skills for that job.…

Volunteering in itself, has many benefits not only to a person’s health, but to the world. There are many types of volunteering opportunities that can benefit a community. Volunteering for an environmental group locally in a community is beneficial because it can have more lasting visible effects in the area as well as can help build stronger support relationships between people with common interests. Also it impacts the people in the area more emotionally compared to national volunteering. Volunteering locally for the environment can have longer lasting benefits such as, having more lasting visible effects, building stronger relationships, and having a bigger impact to people’s emotions in the community.…
