As a student, there is no excuse for us to be late for school. Being late is not acceptable. It’s because late arrival not only affects the person, but also other people. For the person who is late, he/she will miss the morning assembly. There may be some important announcement and he/she will not know it. If late arrival becomes a habit, the effects will be more serious. Workers may easily lose their job if they aren’t punctual. Lateness can also affect other people. For example, the school office has to check your record every day. Your teachers or friends may have to teach you what you have missed out. The prefects who are responsible to record late arrivals may be late for lessons. So actually students who are late do not respect our school rules, teachers and their classmates. It’s acceptable if you are late for school 1-2 times a year. But there is no excuse for lateness on a regular basis. (Carnegie mellon university) (reasons)
When students come to class late, it can disrupt the flow of a lecture or discussion, distract other students, impede learning, and generally erode class morale. Moreover, if left unchecked, lateness can become chronic and spread throughout the class. Because there are a number of possible reasons students arrive to class late, considering which causes are at the root of the problem can help guide instructors to appropriate responses and strategies. Understanding the reasons, however, does not require tolerating the behavior. Students don’t take responsibility for themselves.
Students’ expectations are out of line with the instructor’s. Students don’t recognize how their lateness affects others. Students don’t perceive the beginning of class as important. There is no consequence to being late.
Students are trying to challenge the instructor’s authority. Students are experiencing emotional or psychological problems. Students have physical or logistical reasons for coming late....
