Geography: study of people their environments, and their resources. The geography of the country affects many people.
Location: position of a place on the earth’s surface Location of a city can affect what type of people lives there.

Dictatorship: form of government in which a ruler holds power by force. Countries in a dictatorship often fail.
Technology: skills and tools a people use. Computers are a very highly technologic item.
Diffusion: movement of customs or ideas from one place to another. Cultural diffusion has occurred in the U.S.A., to the point where most customs come from other cultures.
Subculture: a group of people within a society, who have separate customs, believes and values. Many subcultures exist in the U.S.A.
Ethnocentrism: judging other cultures by the standards of one’s own culture. People are ethnocentric when they view any culture other than their own as weird.
Racism: the belief that one racial group is superior to another. Racism once dominated the southern part of the United States, when slavery was still practiced.
Nomad: a member of a hunting people who travel from place to place to find food. Nomads live a very simple, undeveloped life.
Civilization: highly organized group of people with their own language and ways of living. Civilizations develop certain practices based on their surrounds and resources.
