“Music” is defined as “vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion” (Google); however, the real meaning in “music” is not only restricted by this definition. Any moment that one tries to pinpoint something through a rhythm, it becomes a music. Many people believe that African Americans are some of the few people whose soul is expressed exclusively through music. Black American music represents their spirits, which started as the voice that was prohibited. Since Africans were brought to the United States as slaves, they lost their basic human rights due to their slaveholders fear of a slave rebellion.
