The theory our group will be discussing and explaining in depth is the leadership styles of top management using Mintzberg’s managerial roles. Mintzerg named ten different roles, all separated into three categories. The first category is interpersonal. This includes figurehead, leader, and liason. The second category is informational which includes monitor, disseminator, and spokesperson. The last category is decisional which includes entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator, and negotiator. These roles are all used in the leadership styles of top management and we will find throughout research which roles are most frequently used and which seem to be the most effective. We have selected five companies in which we will research and in turn, be able to apply Mintzberg’s roles to each company individually. Our company selection includes Nokia, Walt Disney, Apple, Microsoft, and city utilities. Angst komt wel als hoofdthema naar voren. Op het eerste gezicht lijkt het alsof Frits nergens bang voor is. Hij doet alsof hij overal iets van weet en probeert mensen zo af te troeven of ze helemaal de aarde in te praten. Hij heeft het ik het boek namelijk opvallend vaak over erge en enge ziektes. Het lijkt hier op het eerste gezicht alsof hij een grap erover maakt. Maar als je verder leest en er over gaat nadenken, dan kom je er achter dat hij juist erg bang is voor de ziektes, en wil mensen dingen aanpraten, zodat hij niet de enige is met deze gevoelens. Daarom maakt hij de andere mensen ook maar bang. Ook heeft hij het erg vaak over kaalheid. Door mensen tot vervelens toe erop te wijzen dat ze kaal worden, projecteert hij zijn angstgevoelens voor deze ziekte op hen. Hij praat hier in het boek veel over, omdat hij stilte het ergste vindt dat er is. Ik heb het idee dat hij deze dingen ook zegt om mensen van zich af te zetten. Nog meer angst komt aan de orde in zijn dromen, hier wordt hij elke nacht met de dood geconfronteerd. Als je naar de visie van dit persoon kijkt, het existentialisme, zou je zeggen dat Frits helemaal niet bang moet zijn voor de dood, maar dit is hij duidelijk wel, omdat hij altijd zwetend wakker wordt.
