Why Start School Later?
Getting up in the morning is very difficult after a long weekend or a long night of staying up doing homework, and everyday kids complain about going to school because they are to tired. What do schools and parents do about it? They tell us to toughen up and to go to bed early, but how is that possible?

If we were to start school later, the school day would be so much more easier and students wouldn’t complain as much. Students would be better prepared and have more attention span, it would improve test and grades because students would be more focused instead of looking at the clock waiting for school to get out.

Starting school later would not just help the teachers out it would help parents as well because there would be less fighting

Coming home to a mountain of homework is a lot of pressure, especially when you must start it late in the afternoon. Justin O’neill from Scholastic Scope article, “Should schools start later?” agrees with this. He says, “Starting school later means dismissing school later. This can interfere with bus schedules, after school activities, and family time” (20). This demonstrates that the amount of time lost in the morning adds up, and it interferes with your personal life. But that is not…

I believe that school should stay the way it currently is. With school the way it currently is students still have time after school. Students will still have time for sports after school and other school related functions. If school started later in the day and ended later students wouldn't have hardly any time after school for things such as sports, socializing, and spending time with there families. After students get up early for a week or so they would get used to it and their bodies would adapt to the change.…

I think that starting the school day later would greatly benefit the students and teachers. if we started school at about say nine thirty in the morning instead of eight thirty or earlier, that would mean that most students wouldn't need to be awake in the morning till almost seven thirty to eight thirty and some kids could even wake up a little later then that depending on where they live. granite it is proven that high school students only need six to eight hours of sleep each night but there is always that few that never get the six to eight hours of sleep.…

One of the reasons we think the school start time should stay the same is because it will make the time commitment of participating in after school activities more difficult to manage. All of us, like many other students, participate in after school activities. A later school start time will mean that school activities will start later and run even later than they do now. The later in the day it gets, the less energy we have to give 100% effort mentally. We will also be more physically tired which means if…

Transportation would become an issue for many. With school starting later, many parents will have trouble getting their kids to school. The average person in the United States gets to work at 7:55 every morning. If school started later, parents would have trouble getting their kids to school. This would most likely result in more children and teens taking the bus; with an increase in kids taking the bus more buses are needed. Buses cost money, and that would result in higher school taxes or higher school pay. After school will result in issues as well. Sports and clubs will be pushed back, resulting in these activities to take place during the night. Teens who can legally drive themselves home will have a higher risk of accidents. According…
