What Are Leonardo Da Vinci's Accomplishments
Book 3
China's treasure ships were part of a fleet that was larger than any in history. Zhu Di, leader and prince of the Ming dynasty, wanted the fleet of 317 wooden treasure ships all over 400 feet long. The prince wanted nothing but the best. The silk sails were a traditional red. The ships were used to carry cargo for trade. What amazes me is the boldness of the ships. Red silk sails and painted dragons and phoenixes sounds pretty impressive and coupled with the fact that they were so massive is just astounding. The work these people had to put in day after day makes me love my job. It also makes me realize what kind of people it took to do such work. The mental capacity to and plan out design and construct it perfectly. I think it really shows what a person is capable of. I was not bothered by their pride when they described their ships. They deserved to take pride in their work it is human nature to make it bigger and better

Leonardo da Vinci was naturally curious about how things worked. He examined plants humans and animals he drew them and coupled them with notes of his findings. He created a universal system of proportion in reference to humans. Leonardo da Vinci was one of those special humans that come along once in a lifetime. He was a scientist and an artist. Combining the two talents was a match made in heaven. I responded to the piece because Leonardo da Vinci is such a great icon during the fifteenth century. His artwork is still famous to this day, The Mona Lisa is one of many that can recognized immediately by anyone. Leonardo's curiosity and hunger to dissect the world one kingdom at a time is what interests me. Not only his curiosity but his inventiveness. His notes included contraptions that looked like they were made for the skies. Which just goes to show that even then humans realized that when you want something the sky is the

Each of the sixty-two treasure ships were so large that they could fit nearly two american football fields (Doc C). Along with all of the smaller tender ships in the fleet, the total number of ships was a staggering two hundred and fifty five (Doc B). Such a large fleet could have, and should have easily accomplished many great feats such as discovering unexplored land, conquering land, or becoming permanent trade partners with foreign lands. Smaller fleets have accomplished infinitely times more than the fleet led by Zheng He. For example, Christopher Columbus went on four voyages with a fleet of only three total ships with a crew of ninety men. Over a span of ten years, this small fleet conquered north and South America, started the Columbian exchange, and started a boom of European trade. Zheng He’s fleet led to a ban on sea exploration in China, the fleet being dismantled, and was forgotten for five hundred years (Doc B). In fact, the voyages accomplished so little that the Chinese government was actually losing money funding them (Doc D). If a fleet of a scale as great as Zheng He’s could not accomplish a fraction of what a fleet of three ships could and leave such little impact, it does not deserve to be…

Leonardo was one of the first people to study the flight of birds and make an invention that modeled after how they glided in the wind. He also made drawings, schematics and designs for tanks, helicopters, and a parachute. "Leonardo's importance to art was even greater than his importance to science. Leonard da Vinci and Michelangelo looked at drawing as a part of a creative process due to the fact that this medium needs a more in- depth process that forces the artists to look deep into their imagination in order to form a direct connection and provide a personal perspective of their individual vision to those who viewed their work. They both had a very different outlook on life and the world around them and yet similar. To da Vinci, the creative process of drawing began with his personal experience and he felt as though knowledge, religion and practice were the remaining constituents which allowed him to create his drawing as though to compare them to nature. Michelangelo believed that drawing was a way to use experimentation and planning while requiring the use of the creativity process and motivation to explore new ideas to express the visions in his minds-eye l ("Michelangelo Biography", 1996–2013 A+E Television Networks, LLC.). . Each artist believed that the creative process of drawing assisted them in the further development of their skills and provided them with the ability to continually improve their masterpieces. Michelangelo and da Vinci have many points of similarity and differences to me for they both had a fascination with the nature and the human body.…

Leonardo da Vinci was a great mathematician whose contributions to the discipline were immense, especially in the field of geometry. Besides being a mathematician, Leonardo da Vinci was a renowned painter, inventor, architect, and a student of scientific concepts (Cremante, Leonardo & Pedretti, 2005). Since Leonardo’s natural genius encompassed several disciplines, he personified the term “Renaissance man.” At present, Leonardo is best acknowledged for his art masterpieces, particularly the “The Last Supper” and “Mona Lisa” that are still among the worlds most renowned and admired (Cremante et al., 2005). In all his works, Leonardo believed that there is a significant connection between art, science…

Leonardo da Vinci was known as the master of perspective and composition during his time (Kuiper 13). He was also a Renaissance man which could have had some impact on most of his paintings being mostly religious. Da Vinci also learned when he was younger, how to express lighting in his paintings. Da Vinci appreciated this way of painting because it put everything in a new perspective when the artist can play with the lighting more. An example of this would be in one of paintings which will be mentioned later. Da Vinci used light to show the different ways the sky can look in various areas in the artwork. He was also very interested in flight; he would draw multiple pieces of birds flying in his notebooks (Strickland 34). This can relate to the theme of religion in his pieces because angels and God are floating above us and da Vinci appreciated that greatly. He was very curious when thinking about what he should draw or sketch next and some of the…
