When a player moves forward and speeds up, they have positive acceleration.
When a player moves forward and slows down, they have negative acceleration.
When a player moves forward and doesn’t make any movement at all, they have zero acceleration.

Newton's Third Law: All action has a reaction.
Ex: When the ball hits a players palms, his palms exert a reaction and sends the ball flying through the air in the opposite direction.
