Prayer And Disposition

Father God thank you for loving me and having so much patience with me. You always protect me and shield me – even from myself when need be. I ask You, in the Name of Jesus, Father, to open my eyes and my heart and my head to this task before me and the meaning of Your Word. Father God, still my thoughts and allow me to focus on this until I see it through. You know the condition of my heart, Father, cleanse me of everything right now Father, forgive me for my shortcomings and attitudes, fill me with Your Love and Understanding for Your Word, for my family, in all things. Amen.

Main Divisions of Matthew 28 28:1-8 Mary Magdala and (the other) Mary witness an earthquake and the angel roll back the stone to the empty tomb 28:9-10 Jesus meets the women on the road and He speaks and they worship Him; He tells them to tell the disciples He will meet them in Galillee 28:11-15 Chief Priests bribe the tomb guards 28:16-17 Jesus meets the Twelve on a mountain in Galilee 28:18-20 Jesus commissions the Twelve to go and make disciples baptizing in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit B. Mr. Kozol provides his own socially conscious and very informative view of the issues facing the children and educators in this poverty ravaged neighborhood.     Synopsis of the Gnostic Gospels

    In this chapter Pagels examines the history of Christ’s resurrection and how the Gnostic and orthodox versions differ. The orthodox Christians adopted the literature view of the resurrection, while the Gnostic texts revealed a more symbolic interpretation; say that those who experienced Christ’s resurrection did so as more of a spiritual manner than a physical one. Pagels notes, however, that the New Testament includes interpretations of the resurrection similar to the Gnostic view. She debates that one of Jesus’ followers, Paul, experienced the resurrection spiritually and describes the event as a mystery and the “transformation from physical to spiritual existence.” In conclusion, Pagels believes that the “doctrine of body resurrection serves an essential political function,” meaning that only those men who claimed to have witnessed Christ’s bodily resurrection “exercise exclusive leadership over the churches as the successors of the apostle Peter.” The reason I believe that this Gnostic text about Peter was left out of the Christian Bible is because the orthodox teaching on the resurrection gave minister authority to a limited group of men through whose leadership would emerge, limiting the routes and approaches to God.…
