Ochres is a magnificent dance work, which skilfully combines the traditional Indigenous Aboriginal Australian movements and the modern contemporary movements from today’s society. Collaboratively choreographed by Stephen Page, Bernadette Walong and Djakapurra a member of the Yirrkala tribe, Ochres premiered in Sydney, 1995 by the Bangarra Dance Theatre. The performance represents the cultural and spiritual significance linked to ochre within the Aboriginal people. The unique interpretation of the Aboriginal culture often leaves the audience expressionless due to its uncloying nature. Throughout Ochres many politico- cultural points were subtly interwoven into the depicted Indigenous story however; it was created so to take its audience on different cultural journeys. Therefore, each individual won’t emotionally understand the politico-cultural points, based on how they interpret the movements. The fusion of traditional and modern movements, both Aboriginal and contemporary are carried through the Prologue and all four sections of the performance; Yellow, Black, Red and White, these four sections are the four main colours of the Indigenous culture.…

In Yo Soy Teresa La Fea the story of Teresa and her whole family fighting for having a child illuminates the ways institutions in this case medical institutions embody and reproduce oppression which is later internalized by the subordinated group itself. Racism and ranking of people based on skin color is embraced by the medical institution of Dr. Hidalgo and Dr. Castro: Most of the egg donors are light-skinned as it is widely believed that there should a shared preference for whiter babies. It was unusual for Dr. Castro that Teresa was concerned with the lighter skin color of her egg donor as “all the couple should want babies with Anglo-Saxon tendencies”. However, what is the most striking in this story is the way the medical institution…
In the overall analysis of the three pieces in terms of piano, guitar and orchestra versions, I have found that the three songs in various versions are different in some extent. That is to say, each piece has its distinguished feature with reference to sound, time, structure, melody, tempo, and harmony. To be more specific, the report will examine each song within its different versions only. Before I start analyzing the pieces, I would like to give a brief introduction about Albeniz’s work.…
I wanna be contigo, and live contigo, and dance contigo, para have contigo, una noche loca”. This is the chorus to Enrique Iglesias’ billboard hit, Bailando. If you listen to the song you can hear the rhythm of reggae, hip hop, Spanish flamenco, reggaeton among a cacophony of other sound. I hear beauty, see color and feel joy when I listen to this song. The success of this song according to Gary Trust, associate director of charts is due to “the fact that a quarter of this country’s youths are Latino. He comments that the market is so diverse that Latino artists don’t have to pick just one language or two.…

In 1979, The Knack performed one of their hit singles “My Sharona” in front of a packed house. This song represented the alternative/pop rock genre, and was considered a major hit in the late 1970s. As a child, I remember hearing the song on the radio and I enjoyed the catchy and memorable tune. Although I did not quite understand the lyrics at the time, my dad listened to it often when he worked in the garage. This essay will first describe a variety of important musical characteristics that are displayed within the performance. Next, it will discuss how this song was a launchpad for a future song that became just as popular a few years later. Lastly, before providing my own personal critique, I will discuss how the song assisted The Knack with getting back together nearly 20…
