1.1 Four different beverages are sold at a fast food restaurant: soft drinks, tea, coffee, and bottled water.
Explain why the type of beverage sold is an example of a categorical variable
Explain why the type of beverage sold is an example of a nominal scaled variable

Categorical variables take values that fall into one or more categories. "Categorical variable is defined as data divided in categories as yes or no"(Chapter 1 Statistics for Manager 7th Edition). As there are 4 different types of drinks, they would all fall into their own categories rather than numerical.
A nominal scale classifies data into distinct categories in which no ranking is implied. The type of drinks sold is an example of a nominally scaled variable as there are no rankings involved

1.2 U.S. businesses are listed by size: small, medium, and large. Explain why business size is an example of an ordinal scaled variable
An ordinal scale classifies data into distinct categories in which ranking is implied. Ordinal scaling is a stronger form of measurement than nominal scaling because an observed value classified into one category possesses more of a property than does an observed value classified into another category.

1.3 The time it takes to download a video from the Internet is measured. Explain why the download time is a continuous numerical variable Explain why the download time is a ratio scaled variable

Measurement is the PROCESS whereby a feature is evaluated. Those features can be things like height or weight, or they could be more psychological in nature, like intelligence or anxiety levels. In

The data set has 37 independent variables. This includes 7 categorical variables for competitive type and 30 numerical categories. There are 250 stores, meaning the sample size is 250. As the sales are given in $1,000’s of dollars it is best to remember that a unit change in x will correspond to that coefficient of x multiplied by 1,000.…

The four measurement scales that I have chosen will be Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, and Ratio. These measurements all severe a purpose when conducting marketing research especially when conducting questionnaires or surveys. Without these scales market researchers could not find the answers to most of their questions. If the questionnaire has no one standard result, it will indicate that the system has a flaw and needs one of these four scale to accurately determine such anticipated results. I will now go into more depth to the following measurement scales.…

What I’ve learned throughout this BUS 308: Statistics for Managers course, is that data collected for the purpose of business or life can be interpreted into numerical forms such as nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio data scales which gives a better outcome on measurements and counts for the sole purpose of developing, researching, or discussing ways on how to make their business or personal lives more understandable. I’ve learned how to also calculate formulas in spreadsheets to arrive at these conclusions. Throughout this course there were…

Answer: The variable of question A is qualitative information which deals with apparent qualities (subjective properties). It may also refer to mass, time, or productivity. The level of measurement would be Ordinal variables because it allows more flexibility than nominal variables, because they offer an ordered set of choices. You can calculate percentiles and calculate the median (middle response of a ranked set of answers). They are not numeric with standardized intervals, however, so the extents of the data analysis…

II. Measurement Scales. A measurement scale is the assignment of numbers to entities or objects. The point of the measurement is to have properties of the numbers assigned correspond to properties of the characteristics being measured. For utility the correspondence between numbers and entities (usually consumption bundles, or the outcomes of actions relating to production or consumption) is one-many, i.e., each entity has only one number assigned to it, but different entities can be assigned the same numbers. For a given scale, the "uniqueness transformation" identifies the degree to which the scale values can be transformed and still preserve the…
