Disadvantages of listening to rap music.
Nowadays, rap is one of the most popular music genres to people around the world especially teenagers and also quickly increasing through music industry for decades. This kind of music was began by African-American in the early 1970’s and composed to tell or reveal one’s experiences by using alliteration. Although rap history was just started, its influence is now powerful and widespread as same as fast food trend. Moreover, for teenagers, it is a kind of music to dance and party due to intense rhythm of the beat, simple and strong word rhymes. They think that listening to this trendy kind of music can give them an enjoyable and pleasing time. Nevertheless, in my point of view, there are several reasons to believe that rap music can cause a lot of disadvantages to teenagers.
The first and the most important reason is that listening to rap music may cause young listeners to have terrible behavior. This type of music show many activities that support excessive spending money on brand name goods, expensive cars, etc. These things may be easily imitated by teens and can urge them to become materialism and extravagant person. “Rap money, Drug money” and “Money in the bank” are some bad examples of Kool G rap’s song. Many rappers proudly admit that discussing sex and money in their song is the only thing they care. Also, watching rap music video can push teenagers to become obsessed with sexuality. There are a lot of inappropriate and adult scenes like sexy women wearing few clothes, dancing, tempting, kissing or even making out in Akon’s music video called “I wanna love you”. There’s also a study conducted by RAND Corp., a health care research organization, reported that 1,461 polled teens who listened to music presented sexual lyrics have increased their sexual behavior’s progression.
