Persuasive Essay About Helping The Homeless
Struggling to get by is a common thing and it’s very hard to get back on your feet. This is how a lot of people become homeless. Some people need help so they sit on the side of Walmart, Maverik, or any place they think would be a good spot to hold a sign up summarizing their life story in a few words. A lot of people are willing to give them some help by handing them some left over change they had. Elko has a great community and that’s why a lot of people around here are willing to help others out. When the homeless get enough money they go out and buy some food.
There’s some reasons why it’s not a good idea to hand these homeless people money. The first reason is because we have homeless shelters in Elko and those shelters get a lot of donations from stores and other people in the community

There’s a program in Northern Nevada named (FISH) Friends in Service Helping and they help the homeless. All the programs they have there are made to be temporary and only used in emergency situations so the true needy can get help and so people don’t just rely on FISH the rest of their life. They are there to help get people back on their feet not stay on their feet. This is good so the homeless learn to become self-motivated again which is a need in today’s world. Clothing is provided to the needy by the thrift store. The shelter is provided for one night per traveler unless they get a full time job then they let them stay there until their first check. They have a laundry room that is free and showers for both male and females. The lunch room is open every day but Sunday. This is a lot to offer so if someone homeless truly needs help they can go there. Fish has a mission to help everyone in Northern Nevada that truly need help. They have compassionate service, push to the same goal and that’s to give people hope again, and help the homeless self-sufficient once

“The best wat to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. The town shouldn’t force the homeless out of the neighborhood because they have no where else to go. Don’t you believe that if they had a home or a place to that they could go that they would be sleeping in our neighborhood? I look around and see these people and feel sympathy and want to help them. There are many family owned business in the town and so maybe instead of breaking them down and trying to take them away from the only place they have left to call home you should help them. By maybe just talking to them and learning what skills and abilities they have you can make a difference by getting them a job to provide money to eat and help them survive.…

Even if you are making a good living for yourself, you should always take time out of your day to give back; you never know when you might need someone to help you out. Volunteering my time to my community has always been something I’ve made time for. Not only does volunteering help others, but it can affect your own character. By volunteering you learn social skills, gain work experience, and if you are lucky enough, it will change your life.…

When walking through a major city, have you ever wondered why most of the homeless community seems to suffer from a mental disability? The truth is over 50% of the homeless suffer from mental illness; in fact, the rise in mental illness in the homeless community can be traced as a direct impact from the Reagan administration from the mid 1980’s. After becoming elected, former president Reagan passed several acts which deliberately released hundreds of thousands of uncured mentally ill patients from secure institutions by defunding most mental health services. Almost five decades later, we see the repercussions of those acts in the form of homelessness, which has risen by 26% in major urban cities, and nearly 50% of homeless citizens suffer…

If we don't instead of having just a couple of states that have a high number of homeless people there will be like a competition of which states can rise the fastest of having the most people that can not have there own place to live and higher death rates. For example right now Los Angeles is the largest homeless population which 55% has grown to 12,536 and that alone has said that california has one- third of the homeless population.(Los Angeles times) The increase of that outpaced the one in new york city with a ratio 3:1 which is what i meant it’s like a competition of who has the most people in need. Instead of that they should have a friendly competition of who can help the most and reduce the number of deaths per year that's what should be done positive instead of negative.…
