Bogard use selection of detail to really get the reader to put on his goggles of perspective and understand his point further. By mentioning items such as “tablets, notebooks and smartphones...” These details are strategically placed in his essay of light pollution because as we know in the 21st century almost everyone is engulfed by technology. These details can be used as a sort of stepping stone for the reader to further understand his argument since the reader can more than likely connect with these details. Details that will really snatch the reader into Bogards argument such as “Bulldozer of the night” “ irreplaceable value” “Beauty” give off the impression that what we as humans have is something that is truly invaluable of any paper currency or gold it has no monetary value. Bogards use of these details are effective in boosting his argument because they give the reader a slight guilt trip and maybe even a sense of moral duty to change their ways and be more moderate in their tech
