Lies, truth, and a long walk on the journey to the destination of womanhood was all interpreted in Number The Stars by Louis Lowry. Though lying isn’t good, and no one enjoys being lied to, it was for Annemarie’s protection. Because of these lies, her relationships with the adults in her life affected her in different ways, such as she lost some of the trust she had in her mama and uncle, bravery wasn’t up for discussion, and lastly, she was forced to grow up quicker that she ever imagined. In our lives, trust comes and goes. Trust is one of those things that is easy to lose and difficult to regain. In Number The Stars, Annemarie is lied to by her mama and uncle. “Uncle Henrik, you’re lying to me. You and Mama both. Pg. 75” She once
