Toots Zynsky used various elements in her artwork named “Night Street Chaos.” The outline, exterior of the object, is obvious upon first look of the sculpture. Mass is also an obvious element that can be noticed since the sculpture is 3 dimensional. Although the sculpture already has mass, the value provides and enhanced illusion. Night Street Chaos incorporates a vivid blend of primary, secondary, and intermediate colors.…

“A Night Divided” is a historical nonfiction story. It is set in 1961, when East and West Berlin were separated by the Berlin Wall. Because of the Cold War and the East’s poverty, everyone was shifting over to West Berlin. East Berlin GDR (German Democratic Republic) didn’t like losing their population, so they built a wall to keep people in. Many people tried to escape from the East Side, but few made it. This book is the story of a separated family that had the courage, and bravery to find each other again.…
Picture this: You're fighting for your life, by yourself, with no one by your side to tell you it will be alright. You hear footsteps, gun shots, and the clock ticking to the sound of your death. You realize that this could be your last or luckiest day on earth. This plot is played perfectly by Marshal Will Kane from High Noon, and hunter Sanger Rainsford from "The Most Dangerous Game." High Noon is a western movie about a newly married Marshal by the name of Will Kane, who finds out that his enemy, Frank Miller, is coming back to town from jail, to get revenge and eliminate him since Kane put him in jail. "The Most Dangerous Game," is a short story about a hunter by the name of Sanger Rainsford who realizes the true emotion of the hunted…
Melville depicted the ocean and sea life in stunning beauty and with immense detail. His early books saw his youthful style while his later works saw his limitless possibilities as an intellectual mythic and allegorical writer. With his books, Melville wanted to get metaphysically deep, a goal he far surpassed. Melville wrote in a way that portrayed the events on paper not only as fact, but a reference to his inner soul. Even in his early adventure novel, Melville always had a tendency for mysticism which was greatly exposed in his later works. Melville style is known for poetically and rhythmically intermingling complex symbolism, satire, reality, and fantasy. Melville works all displayed his social criticism and strong philosophical influences which permeated throughout his works. Herman Melville sought to infiltrate deep into the meaning and question life had to offer as well as to clarify the relation of individuals in society and the world as a whole. Melville's works were more of a poetry for the sea which covered excitement, mysticism, romance, description, and satire very…
The midnight zone is the vast part of the ocean. I think that scientists should explore the midnight zone because people might want to know what’s under there. Maybe they want to know what kind of stuff is down there. First of all, scientists should discover the midnight zone. There could be some interesting fish in the midnight zone. Like there’s the Gulper eel. They could get a census count of the different types of fish the scientist could also find predators of the eel. Another reason, scientists should discover the midnight zone is to see how big it is. The midnight zone makes up 90 percent of the ocean. The Gulper eel lives at a maximum depth of about 6,500 feet. Finally, scientists should discover the midnight zone.…
According to the Getty Museum, the increased popularity of illustrated bestiaries during the Gothic Period coincided with a prevalent curiosity about the physical world. These “books of beasts” described animals, their individuals habits interpreted as reflections of the divine order. This gigantic whale was thought to linger on the surface of the water,…
Many people would look at Moby Dick as a monstrosity of a book filled with nothing but nonsense. When I first started this novel, I had the same mindset. I viewed the book from a material angle, whereas there is a much deeper meaning intended by Melville. As I continued reading, these themes and symbols began to pop out and finally make sense. The author progresses the plot and adds depth to the novel by using symbolism. These symbols are either objects or things to the regular reader, however, to the advanced reader, they mean much more and have deeper meaning.…

When your hearts have fraternized into a gory pool of love making, your bodies enveloped in zealous contemplation, and your souls journeyed into orgasmic crossfires in the sky... Herman Melville wrote the novel “Billy Budd” during the 19th century. Melville had several experiences at sea taking part in whaling voyages and also joined a crew while trying to get back home. On this voyage home, he and the rest of the ship’s crew were accused of mutiny and thrown in jail for several months. Some of Melville’s personal experiences as a sailor described in the background makes his story more interesting to the reader. In the novel “Billy Budd”, Melville’s usage of foreshadowing keeps the reader intrigued by the words he uses to portray Billy Budd, multiple details surrounding mutiny, and the reference to a serpent.…
Forecasts are extensively used to support business decisions and direct the work of operations managers. The two major types of forecasts are qualitative and quantitative. Within each of these types are multiple methods and models. Qualitative forecasts are based upon subjective data. Quantitative forecasts are derived from objective data. Both methods are not suitable for all situations and circumstances. Each has inherent strengths and weaknesses. The forecaster must understand the strengths and shortcomings of each method and choose appropriately. One example of forecasting is the United States Marine Corps use of forecasting techniques, both qualitative and quantitative, to predict ammunition requirements.…

Moby Dick, written by Herman Melville, was published in 1851 during a productive time in American Literature. Written during the same time as Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, Moby Dick has been classified as American Romanticism. Melville’s two previous novels, Typee and Omoo, were very well received and won him fans in the USA and elsewhere. Moby Dick was criticized for being too long and some of the characters as being unrealistic. Now the novel is considered ahead of its time and it was not until after Melville’s death that the book began to receive recognition for its brilliance. Moby Dick is now considered an epic tale.…
I chose a scene towards the ending where Jesse and Celine arrive at her apartment after an eventful, therapeutic car ride. Throughout the movie there is this ongoing reconnection and “catching up” the two characters have about their lives over the last nine years. In the chosen scene, a change of pace in terms of dialogue, scenery, and behavior can be seen.…
