Head Girl Winning Speech
Head Girl Speech
Good afternoon fellow panthers, first I would like to thank my parents, siblings and friends for their countless hours that they have put towards my Head Girl campaign. Without their help and support I know this campaign would have not been as successful as it is. For those of you who aren’t familiar with me, my name is Grace Kennedy and I would be truly honoured to be your next Head Girl. Now I know everyone has their own interpretation on what a head girl is. But I have recorded a list of the top three reasons why I am the most qualified for this position and what I have to offer Regi. (30 secs)
Number three, in the course of maintaining an honour-roll average throughout high school, I am very involved in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities offered at our school. Being a part of various sports teams each season like the cross country, volleyball, soccer, swimming, tennis and the rowing team, has taught me the meaning of commitment, dedication, responsibility, time management and working with others. As well as being a student athlete, I have been a member of both the Junior and Senior School Band and school play. My involvement in these activities have not only helped me develop physically, socially and emotionally but have also helped me learn to create a balanced healthy lifestyle.
Number two, is ability to handle criticism. Indeed I’ve been given favourable opportunities so far in high school. However I have had my fair share of upsets. In grade 9, I was cut at the very last junior girls basketball tryout and this year from senior girls soccer. Despite being disappointed, I am not one to give up. I truly believe that as one door closes, another door always opens. Perseverance is a quality that has served me well. During the school year there will be ideas that will get shut down but as the old saying goes, as one door closes, another one opens. Finally we have reached number one which is, I have the ability to get along

Throughout high school, my life has been consumed by sports. Being a student athlete has made me become the person I am today. Ever since I was sixteen, I have also worked at a daycare in town, TASK. This has showed me how much little kids look up to student athletes. Working at TASK has also showed me how much these little kids want to grow up and be like us student athletes. Without sports and working at the daycare, I would not be the role model I am today. Since working at the daycare, I have realized I want to be the person little girls are talking about when they say, “I want to grow up and be just like her.” Being chosen team captain has made me into the leader I am. I have learned how to push my teammates…

As a student-athlete itself, I have a pretty unique high school experience. Over the past 4 years, I have learned how to manage my time better, how to get things done in a timely fashion, as well as how to efficiently multi-task. However, to even further my unique high school experience, I am also a dedicated member of the marching band (and I hold the title of Trombone section leader), concert band, jazz band, concert choir, and spring musical, all while also being dedicated to field hockey. Although these choices stressed me out to no end due to multiple practices, competitions, and games being scheduled all at the same time, I would not have given up this experience for anything. It helped me to grow as a student, as an athlete, as a musician, and most importantly, as a person.…

During these activities I enjoyed giving back to the community which I live in and plan to continue to give back more to my community and other communities. Ultimately character to me is represented through a person through great characteristics such as responsibility, good behavior, reliability and much more. I personally believe that I am a representation of character, as a fact responsibility is something that I find to be very important to me because people such as your teachers and peers will always count on you. As well as having responsibility being reliable to my peers is something that I care much about. Being reliable to others isn’t just helping others through judgement but helping that person with rational advice which represents how much you care for them. Lastly good behavior is something that I personally strive for everyday from following the rules to being respectful, I feel like I’m doing the correct thing but I also feel like a role model to others. The National Honors Society is represented by Four pillars that represents the success of many students like me that are passionate in what they are doing and that want to become NHS member to succeed in the future not for themselves but to share it with others and change the world one step at a…

Out of all the extra-curricular activities I have listed, marching band is the most significant one. In marching band, I met a lot of people that became very close friends with me. My clarinet group was like a small family. We practice and compete together. I was one of the favorite ones in my clarinet group, because I kept everyone happy when the group are going through hard times. For example, if I recall it correctly, during my freshman year, we competed in a competition, and got first place in the prelims, but when we got to finals, we lost our first place position. My group was sad, but I kept them happy. Marching band has made a huge impact in my life by teaching my how to challenge myself more, and how to have a more organized schedule…

Joining the future business leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, becoming a youth leader at Christ Church, as well as many other volunteering activities helped me enrich my community, and make an impact in the world around me. Along with these organizations, I have played several sports in high school, in my junior and senior years I settled on my two favorite sports, track and field, and volleyball. Within these sports I have made friendships with my teammates I will never forget, and learned important lessons in humbleness when winning, and cohere with my friends when losing. By being a member of any sports teams at my high school, I regularly attended many of my school’s events, giving me the opportunity to develop relationships, and gain a tremendous sense of pride in my school. I am looking forward to bringing this same sense of pride to my college, and making many new friendships along the way. I learned over the course of my education to this point, that when I became more involved with these activities, my performance in the classroom increased alongside my…

Although these facts came as a shock to me, they also piqued my interest. Because much of my growth can be attributed to the extracurricular activities I have invested myself in, I cannot imagine myself without the demanding cross country practices, or the baked goods I sell to raise funds for Relay for Life, or the Gwinnett Student Leadership Team seminars that my peers and I plan for our school. Although, at times, I become more stressed with the extra demands of my club activities, the fruitful results allow me to relax as my efforts become tangible. By running, baking and socializing, I was able to briefly escape the academic pressures put on me by…
