Great Depression Case Studies
The client is a 13 year old African American female who presented as calm and mild mannered during the assessment. The client is an 8th grader at Elko Middle School. In 2016, while receiving services from Village Youth and Family Services the client was given the diagnoses of Depression, Unspecified by Dr. Madison. During this time the client was prescribed Duloretine HCL. The client’s mother advised she first noticed depressive symptoms in the client after the death of her father (the client’s grandfather) in 2010.

The client’s PCP is Dr. Carolyn Washington. The client’s sees Dr. Madison for her psychiatric needs. Using a symptom checklist the client is currently experiencing the following: sadness (4-5 times weekly), crying ( 7-8 times daily), irritability (7-8 times daily), mood swings (7-8 times daily), excessive worrying (7-8 times throughout the day), uncontrollable trimmers (4-5 times weekly), hypervigilance (7-8 times daily), isolates self from others ( 7 days a week), racing heart (4-5 times weekly), feeling weak (4-5 times weekly), feeling sweaty (7-8 times throughout the day), chest and muscle pains( 4-5 times weekly), difficulty breathing (4-5 times weekly), restlessness (7 days a week), racing thoughts (7 days a week) and nausea (4-5 times weekly). The client’s appetite has decreased significantly in the past 90 days; as a result the client loss 35 pounds. The client

The first altercation took place while on the school bus.
