Wearing contacts are harmful
General Purpose: To persuade
Specific Purpose: To convince the audience to not wear contact lenses
Introduction
I. (Attention) When you first started using contact lenses, chances are you had the best intentions and were cautious about keeping your lenses clean and properly cared for. But eventually, you started to slack off. Maybe you fell into the habit of taking out your lenses without washing your hands. Or maybe you started going to sleep without removing them first. Sound familiar?
II. (Significance ) Many of us don’t realize the extent of damage contact lenses can cause to the eyes and how significant the amount of problems it can cause.
III. (Topic/Purpose) I will be covering reasons why not to wear contact lenses.
IV. (Credibility) I have worn contacts on and off since the age of 13 and have felt the effects that contacts have had on my eyes and my bank account.
V. (Preview) In this speech, I will discuss the risk/effects that contact lenses can have on the eyes, the long term cost of contact lenses, and what you can do to prevent these to occur.
VI. (Defining contact lenses) Contact lenses are medical devices worn directly on the cornea of the eye. Like eyeglasses, contact lenses help to correct refractive errors and perform this function by adding or subtracting focusing power to the eye's cornea and lens
