Seat belts are designed to retain passengers in their seats during a collision to reduce the risk of injury. Being ejected during a collision is dangerous, 3 out of 4 of people who are ejected die from their injuries. Seat belts are therefore a very effective way of reducing the risk of injury and death. As you can see from the graphic to the right, they reduce the risk of death during a crash by 45% and the risk of serious injury by 50%. There are still some cons of wearing seat belts. Sometimes, during certain types of collisions, the seat belts cause further injury.…
Most cars today are made to be very safety conscience due to the increase in law suits and medical cost when accidents do happen. When crash related victims have to go the emergency room at the local hospital, it can cost anywhere from a $2000 to over $60,000 if you are admitted for treatment. (Bergen 897) That doesn’t include ambulance transportation, x-rays, medication and more. This obviously creates stress among individuals and families that are responsible for the payments long after the victim is better. If you wear your seatbelt, more often than not, these injuries are minor and do not require hospital…
Do you know how many people die in a car accident each year? 40,000 people die every single year. Did you know that a simple task of just buckling up can reduce that up to 50%? Imagine 20,000 people saved with by the simple click of a seatbelt. A thirty mile-per-hour car crash for an unbelted child is the same as them jumping out of a third story window. Broken bone, dislocations, bruises, brain and head injuries are dangerous and are very common in cars accidents. Everyone should always wear a seatbelt, in fact, it should be a primary law.…
Wearing a seatbelt is one of the most important things you can do while operating a motor vehicle.…
“Seat Belts prevent driver and passengers from being ejected during a crash”(cdc.gov). If you wear a seatbelt then you will be more likely not to fling off of your seat in the vehicle. “People not wearing a seatbelt are 30 times more likely to eject from a vehicle during a crash”(cdc.gov). If you fling of your seat you will hit the windshield or the seat in front of you. It is way more likely to fling if you don’t wear a seatbelt.…
Always wear a helmet when riding a bicycle. Although California state law only requires riders under 18 to wear a helmet, certain parts of California, including El Cerrito, require all bicyclists to wear helmets. Even if you are not required by law to wear a helmet, wearing one can greatly reduce your chances of suffering a serious injury if you are involved in a crash.…
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among those age 5-34 in the U.S. More than 2.3 million adult drivers and passengers were treated in emergency departments as the result of being injured in motor vehicle crashes in 2009.2 Adult seat belt use is the most effective way to save lives and reduce injuries in crashes. Yet millions of adults do not wear their seat belts on every trip.…
Motor vehicle accidents and the fatal injuries sustained remain the leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 4 and 34 (NHTSA, 2006). Teens and young adults aged 15-29 years are the most vulnerable to motor vehicle injuries and they account for 38% of motor vehicle crash injuries (CDC, 2016). Seat belt use has been reported to save approximately 13,000 lives each year and has prevented fatal injuries (CDC, 2011). In 2010, more than 30,000 deaths from vehicle accidents were recorded, 53% of those killed were not wearing a seatbelt (NCSL, 2012).…
However, the utilization of seatbelts, in vehicles, has been proven to save lives. Statistics show that the wearing of seatbelts saves over 13,000 lives each year. It demonstrates when used correctly, wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of fatality rates by 45% and the risk of moderate to critical injuries by 50%. Furthermore, for those riding in the rear of a vehicle during a crash, rear seatbelts are 73% better at preventing fatalities than front seatbelts.…
Wear your seatbelt. Decades of accident studies have verified that seatbelts save lives. Note that airbags are meant to work in combination with seatbelts. In fact, airbags cause serious injury to the unbelted driver or passenger.…
I would like to compare a car and a truck. A car is very comfortable to drive in for long trips. A truck is rough and bumpy to ride in but it can haul things like a mower or a washer. Like a truck a car cannot haul big and bulky things like a mower and washer. But for dirt roads a truck would be more durable than a car because a car would just get beat to death on a dirt road with wash bored. Also when someone is stuck in the mud or snow you can pull them out with a truck but not a car. When you get in a wreck the truck will take better collision than the car because the truck is so big and bulky. The car can be faster than the truck it can take corners faster and is small but can't carry a whole lot of weight before it tips…

The purpose of a helmet is in an uncontrolled environment it acts as safety gear that can minimize and prevent injury to the head. People wear helmets to “protect [themselves] from head injuries that can kill you” (Consumer Report, 2016), such as bleeding inside the skull or brain and skull fractures; with the decision to wear a helmet separating the difference of injury and disaster (Consumer Report, 2016). Helmets can also be purposeful in preventing traumatic brain injury (TBI), and when American nationwide records were analyzed of over 6,200 people by researchers at the University of Arizona in Tucson who as a result of an accident had a TBI, they concluded that wearing a helmet reduces the risk of severe injury by 58 percent (Consumer Report, 2016). Some people who use helmets for the purpose of preventing concussions…
The Honda Company was founded by Soichiro Honda .Soichiro Honda was a racer, a businessman, and a manufacturer. But most of all he was a dreamer. He dreamed of a better way of making piston rings, founded a small company, and began production. He dreamed of giving people everywhere an economical form of transportation, and began producing small motorcycles, including one built in 1949 called the D-Type Dream. Soichiro Honda started Honda Motor Company in 1948, at the age of 41.…
In addition to being the best defense in a crash, a seat belt offers occupants five ways to protect from serious or fatal injuries. The Pennsylvanian Traffic Injury Prevention Project reports seat belts prevent occupants from being ejected and help restrain the strongest parts of the body (2009). The Prevention Project further states seat belts spread out the force of the collision over a wider area of the body, help slow the body down, and protect the brain and spinal cord (2009). Based on research by the NHTSA it is estimated seat belts saved almost 14,000 lives, while child restraints saved an estimated 266 children age 4 and under in 2015 (2016). Regardless of how one feels about mandatory seat belt usage, statistics do not exaggerate the truth.…
