The Main Characters
The main characters are Count Olaf who now calls himself Stephano, Uncle Monty, Violet, Klaus and Sunny. Uncle Monty is a herpetologist with a large collection of snakes.
The Setting
The setting is Uncle Monty’s house, which is very nice. There is a large room dedicated to the study of snakes. The children are staying there.
The Situation
The situation is that the Baudelaire orphans have now moved to live with their uncle. Count Olaf is pretending to be Stephano, the uncle’s new assistant so he can get to the Baudelaire fortune.
The Problem
The problem is no one believes the orphans that Stephano is Count Olaf. They know he is up to no good and worry about their safety.
The Conflict
The conflict is Count Olaf/ Stephano murders Uncle Monty. He and the doctor (who is one of Olaf’s henchmen) try to say that Uncle Monty was killed by a snake, the Mamba du Mal.
The Resolution
Klaus read a book about the poisonous snakes of the world and in the book it said that the Mamba du Mal is known for strangling people while it bites them. Uncle Monty’s body was not bruised or strangled. Count Olaf is found out but escapes again.
My Opinion and Recommendation
I think this book is good because is entertaining, mysterious and it makes you think. Also it is about snakes which are my favorite reptiles.
I give it five out of five stars.
