WHAT IS COMMUNICATION –
Communication is process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behaviour. It is the expression and exchange of fact, opinions, ideas or feelings. Communication may be intrapersonal i.e. when we are trying to communicate with ourselves or it may be interpersonal when we convey a message to others. In interpersonal communication there must be at least two persons to allow the completion process.

TYPES OF COMMUNICATION:

Verbal communication -
It is a written or a spoken message that uses words to exchange ideas /information. words are selected in phrases, sentences and paragraph depending upon that results the verbal communication is trying to achieve.
The means of verbal communication are :
Written communication
Oral communication
Visual communication
Audio –visual communication

Nonverbal communication -
Nonverbal communication describes the process of conveying meaning in the form of non-word messages. Some forms of non verbal communication include chronemics haptics, gesture, body language or posture, facial expression and eye contact, object communication such as clothing hairstyles, architecture, symbols, infographics, and tone of voice, as well as through an aggregate of the above. Speech also contains nonverbal elements known as paralanguage.

    Have you ever had to communicate important information to a diverse group of people you share unique working relationships with? Carrying the responsibility of managing the day to day operation of a fifty five million dollar medical Distribution Company forces me into communication instances which require care and precision for effective delivery. As an Operations Leader, I am responsible for delivering information to a large group of diverse individuals serving several different employment roles. Even though the audience is not responding audibly, as the presenter, I must communicate through a through a transactional communication model, meaning that, “I must communicate simultaneously with my employees on a personal level, and treat them as unique individuals , regardless of the context in which the interaction occurs” (Adler, Proctor, 2010, p. 18 ).
