Xfinity Cable’s Current Advertising Campaign
Xfinity Cable’s Current Advertising Campaign
Comcast Corporation, that has recently rebranded itself as Xfinity, has reintroduced their spokes-turtles, The Slowskys with a new member of the turtle family. In the first of the two new advertising spots on TV, Karolyn and Bill Slowsky try to announce the addition of their offspring are mixed up on the baby’s name because “We 're not fast like Xfinity," Karolyn explains” (Reynolds, Spangler, & Gibbons, 2011, para. 2). They are unsure of his name due to the slowness of DSL and the fact that they did not receive their emails in time, with Karolyn stating that his name was Stanley and Bill identifying him as Bill Jr. (ComcastVoices, 2011). The second commercial compares Xfinity Cable’s broadband internet to AT&Ts U-Verse plan by introducing baby Slowskys first word, “Slow” (siouxmoux3, 2011).
Communication of the product’s benefits
A commercial for Xfinity internet has to help the consumer perceive the product as satisfying their need for fast internet access by successfully communicating the benefit of Xfinity’s product. The features of Xfinity cable internet deliver its benefits which are the “solutions to customer problems or needs delivered by the product” (Mullins & Walker, 2010, p. 250).
Not all of the identified benefits of Xfinity’s internet access are communicated in the Slowsky commercials, but the first and foremost feature of Speed is succinctly communicated. According to their website, Xfinity defines that with their cable internet, you are able to “Download HD movies, music, games and more, watch TV online, upload photos or just enjoy the Internet all at lightning-fast speeds” (Comcast Corp, 2011). The Slowskys are an animatronic turtle couple that emphasizes the fact that they are so happy with DSL because if they were to get Xfinity, it would be far too fast for them.
Some of the other features that are offered by Xfinity Cable’s internet access are online security and protection from Constant Guard

The commercial starts out with an “average Joe” at home sitting in front of his TV. You can tell by the scene, he lives in a small apartment, appears to be single, and is aged between 20 and 30 years old. This situation would apply to a majority of the audience/people seeing this commercial. The TV has a gray screen, and the commercial is introduced as, “When you wait forever for the cable guy, you get…

Be Bold Consulting has been invited to provide CanGo with solutions and recommendations towards the advancement of the company. Over the last two months Be Bold has observed the operations of CanGo’s managers and employees. Through our observations we have found a number of issues and have several recommendations. Be Bold suggests that CanGo can better understand their company by learning how to make better decisions for the future of the company. One major recommendation is for CanGo to define itself by developing a mission and vision statement. By creating a vision and mission statement CanGo will have a better understanding of the future. Mission and vision statements can help narrow their focus and only choose the path that best fits that of CanGo. Currently, CanGo has just made decisions without really understanding how it could or would affect the company. If CanGo follows our recommendations and constructs a mission/vision statement it could improve their company standing, by drawing in possible employees with the same values or investors that believe in what CanGo stands for.…

Frontier offers a service called FiOS. This is different than AT&T’s service completely as instead of travelling over the copper wire of pre-laid phone lines, it travels over specially placed fiber optic cabling, straight to the users home. This means that the technology and quality of service for both providers is different. Frontier offers phone, internet, and television, all traveling over their fiber network. They offer similar speeds of 25 Megabits per second.…

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 2015 voted to change the definition of broadband internet from 4 Mbps to 25 Mbps download speed and changed the upload speed to 3 Mbps from 1Mbps (Pramuk, 2015). Existing copper telephone cable is currently used to bring the internet into the home if fiber is not available, this method of receiving the internet is outdated and unreliable in rural communities that have not had any updates to the telephone exchanges. Once this fiber is brought into these rural communities; schools, businesses, and farming changes…
