Why Study History?
The question of why history should be studied is often asked, and many have worked to bring to light their opinion of how this question should be answered. History offers information about how societies behave, and people need to have some sense of how societies function to run their own lives. One can grasp how societies change, what causes the changes, and what elements of society endure despite them. Another perspective on human life is promoted through history. A student of history can test his or her own moral sense by examining the stories of individuals and situations in the past. History can further understanding of society by telling how groups were formed and evolved and provide facts about genealogy. It explains how changes that affect the current state of society are emerging or may emerge. It encourages habits of mind that are essential for sensible public behavior. In order for society to operate properly, a thorough understanding of society is necessary, which can be obtained through researching history. The ability to assess evidence, conflicting situations, and past examples of change are all gained as a result of studying history. Students of history can use their training for broader professional purposes. They develop a broad outlook that gives them the range and flexibility required in many work situations. These advantages vary based on what kind of history is studied. Learning about different kinds of history offers many benefits. In the end, the advantages gained from studying history are many and differ in their way of providing assistance, whether in everyday society, the work force, or in gaining knowledge about why things have come to be as they exist
