“No one thought this day would come so soon, not now, not why I was still a child, still learning and still following the path of my journey. Why me? Did I do something wrong? Was I bad? What did I do to deserve this?” Julianne sat in the lounge room and tried to get her head around the event that had just occurred during the early morning of what she thought was going to be “just another day”, her eyes smudged with black rings of mascara and her hair thrown back into a messy bun, the tears kept escaping her eyes. She looked weak, pale, exhausted but most of all lost and confused. Not an inch of noise came from the rooms of the house; everyone sat in silence, thinking to themselves, wondering what to say. Whether to say anything at all, just in case something that was said was wrong or misinterpreted, the only thing to do in a moment like this was be there, support every member suffering from pain, hold them close and let them know you will be there through every step of the way. Time felt like it stood still, the clock just ticking and ticking but nothing happening. If only we did not take time for granted before this had happened and maybe we would know the value of time.
“Tick…tock….tick….tock…tick….tock” It was like a time bomb, just ticking and waiting to explode. I did not want to come to the realization that all of this was real, it was not a dream.
“This is my reality…,” she softly whispered to herself.
Julianne’s eyes wandered the room back and forth as if she were searching for something that wasn’t there, as if she were waiting for something more to happen. The day started to turn into night and Julianne still sat in the same position of where she had began her morning, people made their way in and out of the house throughout the day, barring Julianne and her family with gifts and much consideration. However, today she did not care; nothing was going to make her feel any better. It was as if something had ripped her open and stolen her heart because all she felt was pain, hurting and sorrow. Julianne didn’t care what else was happening around her, Her mum was her only thought, wondering if she had said goodbye, wondering if she told her she loved her...just trying to remember anything she had last told her mum..But nothing.
“I could feel the pain building up inside the small room, the faces of the family I love brought down by the damage of grief. Sob after sob I could hear go in one ear and out the other and that’s when I lifted my head and seen him, dad; crying into the arm of my older sister..The only time I have ever seen dad cry was… actually never. But today I witnessed it and to be honest I wish I never did beause it broke my heart.” The incident of the morning’s event kept playing over Juliannes head..
“Joy, I’m going to ring the ambulance.”
“No, I’m fine..I’ll just rest it off”
“Robert I can’t breathe”
And that’s when she realized something was wrong, as Julianne layed there waiting for more reactions to happen so she could start to piece together what was going on...but nothing, just dad frantically talking into the phone. She started to hear loud moaning and heavy breathing, something was definitely wrong now. As Julianne quickly strived my way out to mum and dad’s room, the worried daughter was quickly pushed back into Juliannes own but with the company of her little sister, Jordan. They we were both sitting and anquishily waiting for more detail on what was happening, they both just wanted to comfort their mum; just as she would when they were sick or something bad were to happen. The girls just wanted to be there… The same memory kept replaying repeatedly like a movie that would skip after a scene and start again. As much as Julianne wanted to forget the more detail she began to remember.
But the night grew darker and Juliannes eyes felt weaker, she decided it was time for bed. No longer would she wake up & her mum, Joy would be standing there in the bathroom getting ready for work. No longer would she kiss her goodbye, say hello & hug or tell her “I love you” & see her say it back with a big smile on her face. The only thing she could do was to sit there and talk to an earn, her “mum”…

I tried to get actual words out but all could come out was, “Mmm… Amm.” “Sydney.” I nodded, feeling like a stupid dizzy bobble head. “You were in a car accident, and also you are in the hospital right now.” Dad told me. “This is probably going to be hard on you but…” He stopped, and I thought I heard him crying. “Your… Mom… Is…” He stopped again then he started, “ Dead.” My whole world collapsed with that word. I was gone without my mom. I curled up into a ball of sadness, never coming…

As most of you might know, I am Raymond’s mother. My son recently died in a car crash,” she stumbled on her words, and her eyes were tearing up. This was the first time she spoke about what happened to anybody. She did not even tell her own daughter what happened, but she continues speaking. This time not from the speech she had written. “He had reasons. He had his reasons to jump into that car, and I don’t blame him for it. It was my fault, after my husband’s death, I should have gotten better for him. But I didn’t. I was selfish. Raymond was a good person. He might have done some wrong things sometimes, but don’t we all? Any one of you could have easily been in his place. He was just a kid, tryng to understand life and trying to find out what to do, but it got the best of him. Please don’t forget my son,” she was crying now, “He was a good person and although he is dead he will live in my mind forever, and hopefully in all of…

I repeated these words to myself as I looked in the mirror wondering how I could tell Yolanda, Martin, Dexter, and sweet little Bernice… Oh, Bernice! She had just turned five less than a month ago. How could I tell them their beloved father has been shot? How will they understand? Yolanda was the oldest and the wisest. There is no way I could sugarcoat this. I slumped down behind the bathroom door and took a deep breath. What originally began as a day filled with strength, service, and self-reliance had now ended filled with despair, disbelief, and damage.…

just imagine yourself sitting in a classroom full of people all doing an essay in class. as the clock keeps ticking, people keep leaving until eventually there are only ten people in a class and 15 minutes remainding. Your stress level starts increasing and you start worrying more. the thing is, stress builds up gradually when you have more things to do. Moraine Valley does a great job of separating class hours however, there has been a lot controversies about Final taking.I believe that Com Finals should not be given in class due to the following reasons. Not only is it stressful to the individual, but it is also puts a lot of pressure knowing that your classmates are done. i believe essays should be done at home within a 24 hour period.…

I woke up in the hospital, the room was stuffy and the air had a undertone of bleach. Beautiful framed pieces of art hang the wall. There were vases of flowers in the room. I look around, every surface was dustless. The nurses were unhurried, they moved with a serene peacefulness from room to room on their rounds. Above the double doors were large blue plastic signs with the area of the hospital that lie ahead. I got this overwhelming feeling of wanting to cry. Brick by brick my walls were tumbling down. The feeling punched through my empty stomach ripping through my bones, guts, and muscles. I knew Ms. Anna would be upset.…

Last week was very important for me because every activity allowed me to reflect on grief and loss. It was a great week in preparation for the paper on loss and suffering. The didactic on grief with Amy was very touching, especially at recognizing how the life and suffering of Chris matters so much to me. Since the first day I visited him with Anne, there was a connection that has continued during his time at the hospital. I feel very sorry for his situation and at the same time, I feel angry because he has suffered so much at a short age. I understand that he might have done something wrong, but his parents kicked him out of home when he got sick, and that is inhumane and degrading. I hope to continue to visit Chris during his time at the…

Every high school student across the country has that constant struggle to maintain an accurate grade. As I burst into an uncontrollable cry, screeching and yelling, I kneel down, slide my left hand under his warm bloodied back and my right under his thick haired head I gently hoist him up so I can hold him, hold my youngest son in my arms, I can feel the warm and innocent blood pouring out of his stomach onto my legs, dripping off them onto the ground of his bedroom floor, the same bedroom floor he has had his entire life, he spent the first night of his short life in this room and also his last. As I look up and see the curtain’s blowing in the warm summer breeze, I wonder, why is the window open? Why has my son’s life been taken from me so soon? He was the only thing I loved; everything else had gone; now my own flesh and blood had been taken…
