Why Dress Code Should Be Changed In Middle School
The rule that I would most want changed at our middle school would be the dress code. We should be able to have our shirts untucked, be able to wear whatever we want, and our school performance should not be based on what we wear. One reason why I think the dress code should be changed is because we should be able to have our shirts untucked. We should be able to have our shirts untucked because all we are doing is sitting there in class. Sometimes I want to move around, but really can't because my shirt is tucked in. If your shirt was untucked, you'd be able to do a lot more things. When your shirt is tucked in you might get more frustrated because it is so tight, which leads to getting off task and not being able to learn anything that day. People who are overweight might especially feel uncomfortable and probably a little embarrassed. I know if I was really overweight, I wouldn't want to go to school if I had to tuck in my shirt. I also think that having your shirt tucked in kind of makes students look kind of geeky, considering you have it tucked in all day. Students should have the freedom to dress more comfortably. …show more content…
If you are really interested in the army or things like that, you probably like to wear camouflage clothing. If you want to wear those styles of clothes to school you can't because the teachers and the principals will think it is gang related, and you would get in trouble for wearing those clothes. When you want to wear two different colors of shoe laces because it matches your clothes, or you think it looks cool, it will be considered gang related. As long as you are there to learn you should be able to wear an earring or even a cap as long as you are not messing with it non stop. Students should be able to wear anything they

I am rarely ever the one to post, especially about my issues, but I am speaking for many. While the discussion and arguments about school dress code are going on so isn’t downgrading, stereotyping, and bullying. Many comments have been made by people who are stereotyping others for instance cheerleaders. We are being stereotyped as preppy, snobby, slutty, “the populars”, and the list goes on. We are being used in examples like “The people who wear intentional holey jeans and revealing clothing are “the populars” and cheerleaders.” And “The cheerleaders wear skirts hiked up their butts and push their boobs up to the sky, but I got in trouble for wearing the clothes I did, this is favoritism.” This being all untrue is stereotyping, downgrading…

The Piedmont Middle School dress code has become a very controversial topic for both the students and faculty. The dress code states that shorts/skirts must be past the fingertips, and shirt sleeves must be at least three fingers in width. While I can see why this code is enforced, it is unfair for many students, and can interfere with student expression, different body types, and the student’s education.…

Dress codes are rules that the country has utilized for years. But are these rules necessary? They often suppress students’ individuality as well as students’ self-expression. At the same time these rules also discriminate and needlessly sexualize young women. Dress codes were put in place to establish a distraction-free environment for students. And yet, they are doing the opposite, and thus, modifying or eliminating them would be most logical.…

School dress code policy is one of the most enforced policies in high schools. All the high schools have a lot of opinions about what is too high, what is too low, what is too short, what is too long, what is too loose, and what is too tight. Because of this, they are very specific in what us girls should and shouldn’t wear. “All dresses, skirts, and shorts cannot be worn above your mid-thigh.” Does that mean we can only wear long shorts? Is it just me or does it sound a little weird? Aren’t long shorts pants? “All pants should be worn on your waist.” What if we want to wear high-waisted pants? Would we get in trouble for wearing pants above the waist?…

A solution to the dress code concern at schools is to immediately start enforcing school uniforms. The children may complain that their freedom of expression is being taken away at first, but then they will realize they can style their hair differently and wear buttons, bracelets, necklaces, and more to individualize their outfits. Students will be organized, smarter, and happier if school uniforms are enforced.…

I think that Monett should have a dress code, because a lot of people wear clothes that are too short. If we didn’t have a dress code, then I think that it would cause problems, because the students would wear even shorter skirts and shorts. Then I think that it would have a really bad influence on the younger generations. They would think it was okay to dress slutty and that's not something that we should be teaching them we should dress nice. It could also lower our school ratings, because we are rated not only on our test scores, but on the way that are school looks and the way the students look and act. Having a dress code can help improve someone and the things around them. It is the little things that help improve some things. It lowers…

It would be so much easier for the parents, teachers, and students if there was no dress code. The students wouldn’t have to worry about twinning with another student because their options are limited, sticking out like a sore thumb when they go into public places, buying new clothes, and just being flat-out embarrassed. The teachers wouldn’t have to constantly get on the students for breaking the dress code. The parents would actually save a little of money, as well.…
