Why Children Should Play Sports
Why Childern Should Play Sports.! Why playing sports help kids, now and in the future I think all students should play a team sport. Playing a team sport can produce several benefits to the student, family, and also the community. Team sports can be very educational and also healthy for children of all ages. It can help them have fun, improve skills, learn skills and gain new friends. It too can help them become physically fit. Sports focus mainly on speed, strength, coordination, vision and responsiveness. These attributes can help children throughout their lives. Children can learn many skills through participating in sports, leadership and socialization skills as well as the skills for handling success and failure. It shows them it is OK to lose a game at times since they tried their hardest and did their best during the game. Sports can also demonstrate how to maintain order with rules, why rules are needed, showing them to respect others. Sports help increase self- discipline, allowing the children to see the difference in performance when they are prepared and focused. This could help them stay more discipline with their school assignments and other activities they may participate in. If a kid knows they cannot play sports if they fail a class, it may make them work harder and aim higher goals. Research shows students that play sports focus better on their studies and participate more in class. This allows the children to succeed over their peers. Children can also learn attitude control through sports. If you have a positive attitude, it could improve your performance. This also shows them they maintain control over their attitude. Many sports have ways to enhance attitudes before a game or after. Some sing specific songs together others have ice cream after a game. Whatever the case, perhaps this helps the youths have better attitudes when they arrive at the playing field or court and also after the game is over. One main benefit a child can learn from sports is leadership skills. Sports give kids an opportunity to be in charge, be a role model for their team. They can instill values into the team-such as fair play, teamwork, and setting a strong example. They can also be in charge of different organizations for the team, wearing certain clothes on game day, inviting faculty to games and doing events with the team outside school. This will add to the camaraderie in the team. Time management is a vital element in kids playing sports. They learn how to focus more on doing homework with the conjunction of their practices. With this they are more likely to complete more with their time instead of wasting it. They also learn that a full night sleep is important, adding on to the health benefits of sports. Time management also goes along with discipline. By focusing more on what needs to be done and not wasting their time by going to the mall or playing video games they use discipline to remain focused on the goals they are working towards. When kids play sports they form relationships with their teammates. Many kids find it hard to socialize with others. Being in a team environment gives kids a sense of belonging, helping them form friendships. Many feel they are a part of something, important in some aspect. This is a perfect way for kids who are shy to meet friends and be in a group of peers. By being with a group of peers in a sport kids learn the value of teamwork. They learn what camaraderie is, to give and take and cooperation. These are key elements to learn while growing up. Kids that play sports get to see firsthand why these values are important, making them appreciate them more. Even thought the players learn a lot of these values from their teammates. The coach is also part of the team. It is important to have a good coach, making sure the good of the team is always focused on. You want to make sure they take care of the players, making sure their health, mentally and physically come first. Winning is not everything. Sports can give a sense of belong with the community. It gives the players and spectators the experience of being part of the game. Hearing the sounds of the kids and watching them play a sport they remember playing when they were young. When kids play for a community it makes them feel like they are part of that community. This helps them appreciate and do more for the region they live. Being proud they are from there. It does not matter what reason a kid joins a sport the benefits are never ending. Playing sports will help a child succeed in activities he or she never thought they could, giving them the confidence they need throughout their lives. Whether it is baseball, football, golf or even chess, all sports give a feeling of belonging, being part of something. This allows kids the opportunity to develop mentally and physically, allowing them to learn from experiences and take something with them forever. Sports will always have numerous benefits not only for kids but also to the parents and community. Giving them all a bit of something, they cannot find anywhere else.

One may be worried that a child may be left out by the coach or the other teammates ("Pros and Cons of Youth Sports Participation). According to Philips, children make more friends and build stronger relationships with teammates and the coaches rather than being left out (Philips 26). Injuries also play a big part in why so many people do not play sports at a young age. Actually, having this physical activity helps strengthen bones and muscles, which help make injuries happen less. People also believe that children will have too much organization because of having to listen to the coach all of the time instead of making one's own decisions and mistakes. Organization is good for younger kids because if there is no organization at all everyone will be out of control and not knowing what to do ("Pros and Cons of Youth Sports Participation").
