What was the world like when Lincoln was assassinated?

The United States was in shock. The world felt weighted down and everyone felt the grief. Almost all the businesses were shut down. People gathered everywhere to talk about what had happened. No one was expecting this. Services were held in churches to express sorrow. The citizens of Boston, and everywhere, were overwhelmed with grief at this awful calamity (Chandler). A tragic death to a good President left an impact on all citizens.

Who assassinated Abraham and why?
John Wilkes Booth shot and killed President Lincoln in the theater while watching a play. It was thought that John shot and killed him because he didn't want the slaves to be free, which is what Abraham was working

Lincoln mainly got called Honest Abe from being a storekeeper. He would walk many mile to return coins if someone over paid, and gave back supplies or food that someone didn’t get enough of that they paid for. People used to count on Abe to judge local contests. Everyone knew that he was honest and they could trust him. Abraham was a friend to everyone.
Why did Abraham want to end slavery? Did he succeed?

Yes, the book is called “Blood on the Moon: The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln”. The book proves that the tale of a lone and deranged man who wanted revenge killed him is completely wrong. John Wilkes Booth was not alone, he in fact had help from others. The whole time Booth was making his plans to attack President Lincoln, he had contacts underground that would later help him escape (Steers).
What was the importance of The Gettysburg address and Emancipation Proclamation?
At the time President Lincoln received and invitation to speak at Gettysburg, he saw a tremendous opportunity to make a clear statement to the people of America the massive significance of the war. It is not important because of how long it took him, considering it took 2 minutes for this famous speech, it was more about how he said the things
