White Pollution
White Pollution According to Oxford English Dictionary, the pollution means "spiritual or moral corruption (4th cent)," but the meaning of "white pollution" is very different. For people who does not know Chemistry very well and people who is not recycling, they will not have a idea what is white pollution. In addition, they will not know how harmful the white pollution is to the Earth. Actually, the white pollution means that the plastic things, like plastic bottle, plastic bags, plastic silverware and so on, kills animals or influences earth 's quantity. They reason why the plastic is influencing earth 's quantity is that the plastic artificialities will not be depredated by the earth, so it will stay under the ground for hundreds of years. At the same time, we are still manufacturing more and more plastic things. As we bury more and more plastic, the earth 's contain more and more undegradable things. Which means there will be a lot of plastic things under the ground, and finally, we cannot use the earth to grow anything. The second pollution is that the plastic things is killing animals. There are thousands of plastic bags floating to the ocean every year, so animals in the ocean think the plastic bags are the food and swallow them. Finally, animals, like whale, turtle and so on, burst its deep gullet and dead because they cannot digest the plastic bags. There are a lot of news said when the scientist and veterinarian anatomised the dead whale and turtle, they found hundred of plastic bags in their bodies. So when we are using the white pollution, it generally means something bad for our environment.

Are we killing our oceans? This is the proposed question of Dahr Jamail in his article Oceans of pollution. He details several environmental pollution issues facing the waters of the world, from large floating plastic islands to hypoxic zones in which sea life cannot breathe. His thesis is that humanity’s inability to deal with plastic waste is causing harmful problems in the ocean to rise, which could lead to serious negative effects on the planet. He conveys the current scientific consensus and directs it towards an audience that is unaware or ignorant of these issues.…

    (6) Sometimes, the marine life that eats our garbage find their way onto our tables as our food. Our digested trash, which has soaked up many toxins, contaminates the fish. If these fish, by some miracle, do not die before fishermen catch them, they poison us. Also, (7) certain chemicals plastics consist of are slowly released into the air we breathe and the water we drink. These chemicals could potentially cause many awful diseases and defects, (8) such as, however not limited to, cancer, liver dysfunction, asthma, bronchitis, severe lung problems, and a multitude of skin diseases. Many of the more common effects, however, are not fatal, such as dizziness, eye and nose irritations, coughing, headaches, and tiredness. But the risk is too high to leave it be until a later date. Not only does our horrible habit of pollution kill marine life, it may also find itself taking…

Plastic bags lead to three main aspects of environmental influence. To begin with, they are made of polyethylene, which means they are non-biodegradable.(Casper,2009)Plastic bags would need even 1000 years to decompose.(ibid.)Chemicals from them do not change during this time, they just break down into many tiny bits.(kaplan,2010)These plastic bags would release chemical toxicant when they are in landfills.(ibid.)Besides,many animals may ingest these poisonous plastic pieces. As a result, humankind could eventually become victims of toxic chemicals from plastic bags through the food chain. In the second place, producing plastic bags would use up a deal of oil.For instance, producing 8.7 plastics bags could provide the same energy that a car could drive for 1 kilometres.(Australian Bureau of Statistics,2005) Also, because they come from heating oil,the producing process put out harmful emissions such as global warming gases .(ibid.) Apparently, manufacturing plastic bags would aggravate…

Pollution is incredibly harmful to the environment, world, climate, and even space. Pollution damages our atmosphere which then creates acid rain and toxins in the air. The 2015 "State of the Air" report finds 52 percent of Americans live in counties with unhealthy levels of air pollution. Pollution starts with littering which can harm many things depending on where litter is. Bottles, plastic bags, even food waste harms the rivers, lakes, ocean, etc. When bottles get into the ocean, it damages the coral by hitting it. This also happens to sea animals. Plastic bags choke the fish, turtles, and other sea creatures living…

Los Angeles, California have been experiencing a growing population within our city. The growing population in this city has caused an increased pressure on the infrastructure and natural resources that are beginning to affect our environment. The expansion of the city has cut deeper into the rural areas that are causing problems to the environment, such as a loss in our wetlands, water pollution, biological habitats, and air pollution. The cause of the growing population has led to a high density of factories, automobiles, and commercial enterprises in Los Angeles. The population growth is beginning…

Ever since plastic was first introduced almost a decade ago, we have seen an increased trend in pollution, especially in the ocean. You cannot hide or run away from plastic. Plastic is literally everywhere, from the clothes you’re wearing to even the IV bags used in hospitals. Do you see the toys your children are playing with? Yes, those are also made from plastic. Plastic has made itself into an everyday essential because it’s convenient and cost effective. Plastic isn’t the only thing that ends up in the ocean. According to the Rinkesh Kukreja, editor of Conserve Energy Future or CEF, other pollutants of the ocean are industrial waste, oil, and harm chemicals. With the current trend in pollution, marine life could easily cease to exist and certain marine organisms could end up becoming extinct. Barry Commoner, a biologist and Harvard graduate, once said “Environmental pollution is an…

I have decided to do my research paper on the effects of synthetic plastics & the amount of pollution it is causing in the Pacific Ocean. There is an island of plastic in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that people refer to as “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch” & “The Pacific Trash Vortex”. AT least 10,000 pounds of garbage washes up onto the shore every year, from the smallest pieces like bottle caps to big items like computer monitors and car tires. The debris comes from South America, Asia & parts of the U.S. Most people don’t know about the effects of plastics. Plastics don’t disintegrate & they end up in our ocean water, harming our wildlife & the fish we eat. There are no pictures of “the island” because you would have to sail with a net to truly understand the amount of debris at the bottom of the ocean. It is said that if it could all be taken out it would be as large as double the size of the state of Texas or enough to cover the entire United States.…

    The problem with plastics

Plastic is made from petroleum, which the earth cannot digest. Instead of plastic biodegrading (breaking down in the soil) it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces, which causes more harm than just staying in one piece. For example, if the plastic ends up in the ocean, the plastic pieces will get smaller, and filter feeders will start to eat those pieces. Since filter feeders are on the bottom of the food chain, every organism (birds, fish, marine mammals, etc.) that feeds on the filter feeders are also eating plastic. Plastic that ends up in the ocean, kills around one million marine organisms each year!…
