For many managers we all have certain thing we are known for. For some it is that they keep their cool in high stress situations, for others it is that they are able to handle many different things at once, but for all managers one thing is for sure we have to make many different decisions at once. Managers have to look at the internal part of the organization as well as the external and make sure that both systems are running smoothly, if not how can the manager make better decisions for improvement.
Most basic part of the characters for managerial decisions are lack of structure, risk, uncertainty, and conflict. Managers have to see what structure is there for making the type of decision you are trying to make. I agree with my other team mates that it takes a collaborative discussion to make a good team decision. I disagree with my teammates with the whole entire company should agree. There are always going to be toes that are going to be stepped on and it is up to the manager to resolve or curb the conflicts that would arise.
Allstate CEO Edward M. Liddy is faced with many of these types of decisions daily with such a huge company. Mr. Liddy is the one who choose the “face” for Allstate, the logo “In good hands” has been around since almost the beginning of the company. Mr. Liddy helped build upon this and made a bigger name for the company, his commit to these decisions were important at the time because of all the controversies over the hurricanes. The company was facing a lot of hardship over what exactly they should cover in certain areas of the country. These are types of hard decisions that a manager would have to take and agreeing with my teammates that it would take collaboration on what needs to be done.
