The Roman empire lasted from 700 BCE until 476 Ce, and incredible 1,176 years. But how did Rome fall? Some say political squabbling. Others argue invasions. However, the downfall of Rome was due to military problems, and natural disasters. Earthquakes brought buildings to the ground, while illnesses killed thousands of innocent people. Also, the military was losing it’s edge. They decided to become lazy, beginning to think too much of themselves.…
The Roman empire, what is now modern day Italy, was one of the largest and most powerful empires of the ancient world. Their accomplishments shaped politics, religion, and culture around the world. However, when the empire started to decline, Diocletian split the empire into western Rome and eastern Rome in 200 A.D.. While eastern Rome continued to thrive, western Rome collapsed in 400 A.D.. There were many reasons to why western Rome collapsed including military, economy, and religion. First, there were loyalty problems in the military. The economy was also down because of labor shortages. Finally, a new religion was spreading, which changed the morals of Rome.…
There are many theories as to why Rome fell, but none of these have one chief explanation. I believe public health, barbarian invasions, military spending, inflation, and religion were the most important factors that caused the Roman empire to plummet.…
Rome was one of the greatest empires of its time. They conquered so much land that they had to split it in half to be able to manage all of it. They had ruthless leaders who gained so much power and land for Rome. They also had a military that was practically invincible and they could take down anyone who tried to stand in their way. A civilization as strong as Rome should not have fallen. And the reason as to why it did is still a mystery to many people. The Roman Empire fell because of invasion by the Huns, the loss of people, and because the people of Rome got tired.…
I believe that there are many reason that contributed to the fall of The Roman Empire. The amount of short lived and inconsistent emperor's, moral codes people did not value their lives, the economy and the amount of people not having work. All of these things had a huge impact on the fall of Rome, it also caused the empire to divide which made the fall come even quicker. People not having work had great impact on the fall of Rome. When people didn't have work it caused the wealthy Romans and the Romans that are in poverty to grow apart from each other.…

There are many explanations for the fall of the Roman Empire, but I don’t believe blame can be solely placed on the immorality of Rome. Babcock (2012) states, “Rome was always immoral, and it always tolerated a whole range of immoral acts throughout its history” (p. 136). It would be hard to imagine that things continued to get worse until the morals were so bad that the empire collapsed. Although I do agree that “the explanation for why all human societies and empires collapse (is) because of their sinful nature” (Babcock, 2012. P. 136). When reading this, I thought about Noah and the ark; remembering God being so upset with all the sins of the world that He wiped everything clean except for those aboard Noah’s ark.…
“The disintegration of the Roman Republic is the first example in European history of the collapse of a constitutional system.” Before the Roman Republic, the Roman Kingdom existed, and in 509 BC the kingdom was replaced by the republican government. At 27 BC, the Roman Republic collapsed, and the Roman Empire was formed on the republic’s foundations. The early Roman Republic was greatly influenced by the Etruscans. “The Roman model for their Republic was based in part on the Etruscan Monarchy and hierarchical structure.” The Republic’s main principle was that they did not want a dictatorship through blood lines, but that the mass chooses their leaders. The ideology of the Senate was that, “… it was not an elected body, but one whose members were appointed by the consuls, and later by the censors.” The republican government was a complete mess that arose out of practical need; there also was no account of a written constitution made by the Republic. The Roman Republic’s origin was located in the city of Rome, Italy. At that time, Rome was considered the center of the Mediterranean world. The true fall of the Roman Republic is the result of too many problems for the romans to handle.…
Rome didn't fall in a mere twenty-four hours, just as it wasn't built in a day. In fact, historians aren't positive how long it took to fall, but they have narrowed it down to a year; 476 AD. There are an infinite number of reasons why this gigantic empire could have fallen; almost anything could have gone wrong. The Roman government wasn't made to last, the astonishing number of emperors they had and killed ruined their chance of survival. Then the rise of Christianity was a big step in Rome's path to self-destruction and took the focus off of the dwindling government long enough for the barbarians to finish off the empire. While there are other beliefs about how Rome fell, the government, Christianity, and barbarians are really the major…

For many centuries, the Roman Empire flourished and was able to make many great accomplishments and creations that have influenced modern culture today. Despite the success of this empire, it soon began to crumble after the Pax Romana, which was a period of 200 years of peace and prosperity. Many factors contributed to the decline of this empire, including the spread of famine, disease, and the effects of Christianity, as it spread throughout the empire. However, the three main reasons that contributed and caused the fall of Rome were the political, military, and economic factors.…
The Roman Empire was one of the largest and most powerful empires in the world. The nation was a colossus; at its height, the empire controlled most of Europe, North Africa, and Asia Minor. However, the empire’s vast territory proved to be difficult to maintain; groups from all over the world began to move into the empire and invade the nation. More problems in addition to heightening conflicts began to proliferate as the empire crumbled. The deterioration and collapse of the Roman Empire was the result of the failure of its political system, depreciation of traditional Roman values, and growth of slavery as well as the advance of Christianity, destruction of the plague, and lead poisoning.…
