The Blessed or Holy Trinity is a big part of Catholic lives. This is one God in three persons which is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy spirit. We believe in this powerful spirit that came to Jesus at Pentecost. At Confirmandi we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as renew our baptismal promises. Confirmand are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and are anointed with chrism. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit which are piety, wisdom, …show more content…
understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, and awe of the Lord are sealed within us through the power of the spirit. The twelve fruits are joy, charity, patience, peace, goodness, kindness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, and chastity. Through the Holy Spirit these gifts can be activated. The spirit helps us flourish in our faith and in our relationship with God. It helps us choose right and wrong decisions to make the best choices. With the trinity, we can thrive to make the world a better place. We can do this if we believe and trust in our faith. When we live out our faith, we put all our trust in the Trinity. Knowing that God will watch over us and keep us safe until we join him in heaven.
Our faith is based on the Church’s beliefs, Jesus dying on the cross to save our sins. Today in our society, we read that Jesus was the savior God had promised. Jesus shed his blood on the cross, he took the fall for us and showed us his righteousness. God sacrificed Jesus for our lives and our salvation. Jesus had love for everyone and everything. He knew what he must do for the world. We thank and pray to him as every day passes. “And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever possesses the Son has life; whoever does not possess the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you so that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God.” (John 5:11-13)
God created us in the image and likeness of him.
This means we were made to be comparative human beings. “Made in the image of God” means man and woman were made to be in relationship. Having the likeness of God means we resemble him. As Catholics we live by the four marks the Church which is one, holy, apostolic, Catholic Church. Like the Gospel writers, there are four important characteristics of the Church. On the fifth day of creation God decided to make man and living creatures. “Then God said: Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the tame animals, all the wild animals, and all the creatures that crawl on the earth. God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:
26-27)
In conclusion, being a Catholic in contemporary society means Catholics putting trust into the Spirit, our beliefs and the Church’s belief in Christ, and God creating us in his image. We live our lives by obeying God and respecting him. Catholics follow The Beatitudes, The Ten Commandments, and The Greatest Commandment. “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest? He said to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. (Matthew 22:36-37) Everyone isn’t perfect and yes humans do sin, but we ask for God’s forgiveness. God will always understand us. He knows us better than anyone and will forgive no matter what. We believe I our loving Father and creator
