What Is Walt Disney's Dream Reality
Walt Disney Walter Elias “Walt” Disney was born December 5, 1901, in Hermosa, Illinois. He and Roy his brother, co-founder Walt Disney Productions, it became one of the best-known motion-picture companies in the world. Disney created the cartoon character Mickey Mouse, which became the world’s oldest and most famous vermin in the world. Walt Disney was an extremely creative’ person, who took his talents, developed many movies, characters, and two theme parks for all ages to enjoy.
Walt Disney’s father was Elias Disney, an Irish Canadian, and mother, flora call Disney a German American. Disney is one of the five children, four boys and one girl. Disney attended McKinley High School in Chicago, where he took drawing and photography classes. …show more content…
Walt said, “I could look around and see the fulfilment of my hopes, dreams, and ambitions in the form of spectacular kingdom.” On Disneyland’s opening day, a 15 day hat wave raised temperatures up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. It was so bad that the asphalt would trap high-heeled shoes, because it was so warm. The heat wave continued after the opening day, almost taking out the park. Beside the awful opening day conditions, by 10 years 50 million visitors had entered the gates of the magic kingdom.
In Walt Disney’s 65 years, he succeeded by moving black and white novelty to highly genre that would make Oscar winning feature films. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy were instantly recognizable global icons of Walt Disney. Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966, from lung cancer. He left Disneyland and all his movies, but even though he was not able to see how his park and company grew into the 21st century, his legacy still lives on today. Walter Elias Disney also known as Walt Disney for short was born on December 5th, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. Walter’s parents were his father, Elias, an Irish-Canadian and his mother, Flora, a German-American. Walter was one of five children, he had three brothers and one sister. Soon after Walter was born, the family had moved to a farm in Marceline, Missouri. Elias Disney was an abusive father so two of Walter’s brothers ran away from the farm which left Ruth, the younger sister, Roy, the older brother, and Walter. Walter was encouraged to draw by his mother and his brother, Roy. Walter discovered drawing and marketing at a young age, “When he was seven years old, he sold small sketches, and drawings to nearby neighbors. Instead of doing his school work Walt doodled pictures of animals, and nature.” (Chris para.6). When Walter was ten years old, his brother, Roy left home leaving Walter only with his imagination, paper, and a pen. Walter didn’t like being lonely so he drew characters to keep him company. While in Chicago, Walt went to McKinley High School where “he turned his attention to drawing and photography, while contributing to the school paper.” (Jones para.2). To enhance his drawing skills, Walter would go to the Academy of Fine Arts. Walter was a junior art editor for this schools newspaper. Walt discovered his first movie where he saw a black and white recreation of the crucifixion and rebirth of Christ. When the farm failed, the Disney family decided to move to Kansas City. This is where Walt continued to develop advanced drawing skills and he also picked up new skills as well. On top of drawing, Walter got into “acting and performing.” (Chris para.12).     Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901 to parents Elias and Flora Disney, in Chicago, Illinois. Elias and Flora were married in the spring of 1888. Elias took a job as a hotel manager at Daytona Beach. Later that year the Disney’s first son Herbert was born. In 1889 Elias moved his family to Chicago, IL. The Disney’s second son Raymond was born later on that year. Four years later in 1893 their third son Roy was born. Walt followed in 1901. In 1903 the Disney’s last and first daughter Ruth was born. In 1906 Elias bought a farm outside of Marceline, Missouri and moved his family. In 1909 Herbert and Raymond left the family farm, putting an even greater strain on Elias and his two other sons. With the two older boys gone there was more work for Roy and Walt, and whenever they misbehaved Elias would use “corrective” beatings with his belt (Elliot, pg. 7). As a child Walt loved to draw, and since his family didn’t have a lot of money, he would end up drawing on anything he could find, usually he used toilet paper and a piece of coal. In 1909 Elias came down with typhoid fever and was forced to sell the farm and moved the family to Kansas City, where he bough a newspaper route. Flora enrolled Roy and Walt into the Benton Grammar School. Everyday Roy and Walt would get up before three o’clock to deliver two daily editions of both the Morning Times and the Evening and Sunday Star seven days a week. Walt took a job delivering prescriptions for a local drugstore. He used the money to buy extra newspapers to sell on street corners. He used the profits to buy art supplies. In 1911 Roy left home. In the fall of 1917 Elias sold the newspaper route and bought a partnership in the O-Zell Jelly factory in Chicago. Walt stayed behind to finish the…
