How?
In collecting data for the school based assessment a total of four (4) visits were made to the study area. On our first visit we distributed fifteen (15) questionnaires and organised interviews. On the second visit, interviews were held with managers and residents of the study area and all questionnaires were collected.
On the third visit more interviews were conducted and the final visit was for sightseeing to various natural attractions and interesting places.
When?
The questionnaires were distributed on Monday 30th September 2013 around 4 p.m. Some interviews were conducted on Friday 4th October, 2013 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Our last three interviews were carried out on the 5th October, 2013 and pictures of the study area were taken. This occurred during the hours of 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Where?
Sauteurs is located in the parish of St. Patrick. It is north on the map of Grenada. It is 0.25 kilometers away from the nearest village. The surrounding areas in which research was also conducted are: Mt. Rodney and Levera.
Presentation of data During the study of this S.B.A, factors affecting Tourism Development in Sauteurs and surround areas were studied. From the information provided from the questionnaires, interviews and observation of the study area itself, a conclusion was drawn that Tourism Development in Sauteurs and surrounding areas is poor.
Some of the factors identified that affects Tourism Development in Sautuers and surrounding areas include; Accessibility, Development of Infrastructure, Natural Attractions, Culture and History and the major factor being Accommodation.
Accommodation
In Sauteurs there are only two hotels, Barris Resort and Petite Anse Hotel. Barris Resort is no longer active. It is now being used for the hosting of business meetings. Tourists do not come to the hotel because of the long drive from the town of Sautuers
