Will this proposed regulation affect you or the business in which you are working? If so, how? Submit a copy of the proposed regulation along with your responses to these five questions. The proposed regulation can be submitted as either a separate Word document (.doc) or Adobe file (.pdf). This means you will submit two attachments to the Week 2 Dropbox: (a) a Word document with the questions and your answers and (b) a copy of the proposed regulation you used for this assignment. (10 points)

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-This interest me because I would like to know what how these vehicles are being assessed and how will they influence my decision to purchase a new car base off the assessment that was given. This effect me because new model vechicles without design changes are allowed to carry over their rating and the family star rating.

2. Describe the proposal/change. (10 points)
The proposal uses vehicle comparative information for consumers to use to purchase vehicles and for manufacturers to continuously improve safety feature by using research and public comments about areas to look into and how to improve the safety features.

3. Write the public comment that you would submit to this proposal. If the proposed regulation deadline has already passed, write the comment you would have submitted. Explain briefly what you wish to accomplish with your comment. (10 points)

I think that the NACP should have every manufacturer have their car go through the safety test each year. Just because the design hasn’t change doesn’t mean its less or more safer and the best way to prove that case is to retest the car. Also, there should be more testing done for the family star rating and test to see if its safer to have a child in the middle seat or the side seats which wasn’t addressed in the NACP.

Looking at a car’s safety features and scores does not take a long time to check for any car nowadays because the there are many websites (including all the car companies) that post these features and scores. One of these websites is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) which has a database at Safecar.gov that contains all the results from the crash safety tests performed online available to public on all the cars they perform their test on. Safecar.gov is a website that is updated whenever the NHTSA performs new crash safety tests on any new car and posts the results online along with the entire standard and, sometimes, optional safety features that each tested car has. Furthermore, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also has a website that is similar to the NHSTA’s Safecar.gov and tests the crash safety features of every new car they possibly can and posts the results on their respective website at www.iihs.org. Both the IIHS and the NHSTA’s websites are non-profit organizations funded directly by the government or the many auto insurers in order to inform the citizens of the United States on how safe the car they are going to buy really is. Even though their methods of scoring are different, both institutions test the safety of each car so no driver will ever have to. Researching the…

The primary buying behavior and decision motivator for consumers is safety. Automobile manufacturers are installing innovative safety features into their product to create a core competency and gain a competitive advantage.…
