We Shouldn't Legalising Euthanasia
Euthanasia is another term for mercy killing or assisted suicide. Performing it is taking the life of a hopelessly ill or injured individual in order to end his or her suffering. It is a very controversial topic, many argue that euthanasia releases the suffering. What would you do if your loved one requested euthanasia? Would you let him/her continue to suffer or grant his/her wish? I believe that euthanasia should not be legalized because it may result in abuses of euthanasia, put pressure on the patients and life is too sacred. I believe a doctor’s role is to save lives, not to end them and they should not be allowed to ‘play’ God. Giving doctors the ‘right to kill’ may lead to abuses of euthanasia. They might start killing patients without asking for their permission. For instance, if the doctor held a grudge against the patient or felt resources were being wasted on a dying patient. Also, euthanasia may place a burden on the doctor to assist suicide and performing it may trouble him/her afterwards. It could also cause problems with the patient’s family in the future. As a christian, I believe that no one has the right to end their life. Life is a gift from God and it is up to him to decide when our life ends. It says in Genesis 2:7 "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." This bible verse says that God has created us and gave us life and in Exodus 20:13 God says that any form of murder (from abortion to euthanasia) is forbidden “thou shalt not kill.” Legalizing euthanasia would also pressure the ill to request for assisted suicide reluctantly. Not choosing euthanasia may be perceived as being unreasonable, selfish or cowardly. The ill person may suffer under this subtle but significant pressure and feel like that they are a burden to the family. Legalizing euthanasia therefore will deny patients the possibility of staying alive by default and will

To sum it all up, euthanasia should be allowed. One has the power of their life. Especially when it is causing them pain and the people around them. Having to either pay for another ill person in result to their family being ill when they are in pain can get very expensive. There are people who need the help and the money more than the people who only have a few months…

Euthanasia means gentle or easy death for those who are incurably ill and in pain. So should a person have the right to take another person 's life or his own when he or she is incurably ill and in pain? That is Australia is trying to decide. The N.T already has passed a law that legalizes euthanasia in that state. Now other government leaders and members are in support of this are pushing for an Australian euthanasia law. Christian Groups and Anti-Euthanasia have seen euthanasia as a sin and a choice that no-body should make. Some doctors have taken ill patients life 's as a request from the patient should this now be openly done. Would you want to be kept alive, with little hope ahead, when you were in pain? Some might answer no, and those people should deserve the choice to end it when that pain becomes unbearable.…

The concept of physician assisted suicide always provokes a moral predicament for many people all over the world, mostly because it gives someone the freedom to choose whether to live or die. Euthanasia has been debated for many years, on one hand people believe euthanasia is a negative action because suicide is not a way out, but on the other hand people also believe assisted suicide is the only option for a patient who suffers from great pain that will only get worse. Euthanasia or physician assisted suicide should be legalized and people shouldn’t worry about whether or not if they feel it’s immoral or not.…

The simple principles of medical ethics are “to avoid harm”, “to do well”, “the right to act freely”, and “acting fairly towards the patient”. Doctors should try to save patient’s life instead of ending it. They have the responsibility not to kill the trusting patients, but give all their best to secure the life of their patients. Even if the patients are hard to cure, they should still try and not make euthanasia an option. Therefore, doctors do not have the right to decide whether their patients would live or die as long as their patients are alive, there is always a hope for curing. For instance, many European countries are legalizing euthanasia. Unfortunately, not only doctors, but also nurses are favoring euthanasia in the extreme…

Euthanasia is very controversial and in most countries illegal. Even though it is illegal there are a lot of people who think that it should be legalized. Euthanasia is when a medical professional administers medicine that will end the patient`s life. People would make the option to have this done if they were suffering or if they had someone in their life who come make the decision for them when they could not , then that person would. This would put them out of their misery and they would pass away shortly after.…

1). Physicians have sworn an oath which does not allow them to take part in the killing of people. Individuals against euthanasia believe that physicians should not take part in directly causing death because they will not be able to keep it under control. Euthanasia would never be legalized without regulations and controls in place. If euthanasia were legalized then doctors would not be breaking any oaths or laws. Physicians are knowledgeable professionals who can provide their patients with all of the information needed to make an informed decision. Physicians should be treated with respect and not judged when they have not done nothing for you to think otherwise. The option of euthanasia would only be given to those who are terminally ill so that they can make their own decision and not prolong suffering and pain for themselves and their families. Gibson explains that “human life is sacred and it is wrong to kill another human” (2008, para. 3). Those against euthanasia believe that it devalues human life and we should only “[do] unto others as we would have others do unto us” (Gibson, 2008, para. 7). Euthanasia gives patients the freedom and respect to make one final decision in their life when they are not able to make any others. This actually shows that they value their life enough to not suffer unnecessarily. They want other to remember them when they were happy and not in pain. Euthanasia can also give patients a chance to donate organs which again shows that they really do value human…

First, I oppose euthanasia because I believe that it is a doctor’s duty to keep patients alive. If doctors were allowed to preform euthanasia I believe that it would put a lot of physicians in the difficult place of deciding weather to treat a patient to the best of their ability or to end the patient’s life. I believe that it is a physician’s duty to offer patients the highest level of care. Physicians would also be put in a position where their own personal beliefs and moral bias would play in to their treatment plans. A non-religious objection to PAS would be that its legalization could inspire a lack of respect for human life (Mosser, 2012).…

Euthanasia should be legalized to allow terminally ill patients the opportunity to prepare for their deaths, avoid unnecessary pain and die with dignity. Euthanasia is “the act or practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable condition, as by lethal injection or the suspension of extraordinary medical treatment.” (Am. Heritage) The literal meaning of the word euthanasia, "‘an easy or happy death,’ from the Greek word eu- ‘good’, and thanatos ‘death’"(Harper), is proof in itself that the whole idea is to help people and not to belittle the value of life. The fact that suffering animals can be put out of their misery, but suffering people are forced to stay alive and endure the pain, is inhumane. Legalizing euthanasia would be no more than an act of mercy allowing medical personnel to bring slow, painful deaths to a halt.…

Claiming that everyone has the right to choose their death. The website also went deeper into the matter by bringing the Hippocratic Oath, “do no harm” (ProCon.org, “Top 10 Pros and Cons”). It…

This argument needs to be settled so people can either go through the process or not even have the option. If patients cannot obtain euthanasia then there needs to be more ways that will ensure patients less pain and suffering for them. IN the future, hopefully the Unites States will legalize euthanasia or find a better alternative than euthanasia that will allow patients to die with dignity. People of the United States and all over the world cannot live in fear of what might be right or might be wrong, chances need to be taken to understand and develop more. To end with is a quotes from “Doctor Death, Jack Kevorkian, and “My ultimate aim is to make euthanasia a positive experience.” (Euthanasia…

I believe that euthanasia has its place in society. While I do not condone murder, I believe if a person is dying from an incurable disease or is in a persistent vegetative state where there is no chance of recovery, allowing that person to die painlessly and with dignity is more moral than not doing so. Although human life is a precious gift from God, I feel that it would be the duty of the patients ' family and doctors to take all the information about the health of the patient and make the best decision for their loved one, even if the end result means the death of that person.…

The first reason that I’m going to talk about is how that choosing assisted suicide and/or Euthanasia doesn’t just effect the person choosing it. It also effects the family of that person. In a normal situation of dying there is a process that the family goes through. That process helps the family slowly get used to the idea of letting go of that loved one. If the person chooses euthanasia then its all of a sudden and it could leave a huge negative impact on the family members. So you have to realize that its not all about you.…

Euthanasia contradicts the main reason of being a physician. Doctors are known to be healers not killers and this could cause ethical issues. In Kirk Johnson’s letter on behalf of the American Medical Association (AMA) he addresses how euthanasia would make a negative impact. “The involvement of physicians in euthanasia heightens the significance of its ethical prohibition. The physician who performs euthanasia assumes unique responsibility for the act of ending the patient's life. Euthanasia could also readily be extended to incompetent patients and other vulnerable populations. Instead of engaging in euthanasia, physicians must aggressively respond to the needs of patients at the end of life. Patients should not be abandoned once it is determined that cure is impossible. Patients near the end of life must continue to receive emotional support, comfort care, adequate pain control, respect for patient autonomy, and good communication.” He stated an alternative to the suicide, which was that physicians should get the patient ready for his death and make him feel comfortable rather than just ending his…

Many people who are diagnosed with incurable diseases want to be able to die gracefully and on their own terms but are not permitted to do so. Reasons like this are why assisted suicide should be legalized for people with incurable diseases. Euthanasia should be a right granted to all citizens who are suffering from a degenerative, fatal, or painful condition that would enable them to enjoy their lives as healthy people do. There is much controversy on this subject, and frankly, it should not be up for discussion. It is not up to society to make decisions that infringe upon the rights of the physically ill. Firstly, it would allow the ill to practice their rights, it would grant doctors the opportunity to do their primary job in society, which is helping people. Euthanasia would save money that could be better spent on other fields of medicine. Lastly, assisted suicide should be legal in order to give patients the ability to decide their own fate. Furthermore, having the option to physician assisted suicide allows the patient to maintain control over his or her situation and to end life in an ethical and…
