to accept not just to a group of people. The American Enlighten was leading people to freedom so the settler to have experience and enabling them to maintain and fight for exemption.
The Great Awakening was a large Revival. It was for the laymen and it to get the church organized in order to have a structure. Jonathan Edwards was the head preacher, George Whitefield stirred the revival up, and keeping everyone encourage. There were people that were against the revival and like the old way of running things. The Old Lights began to sit on one side and they were called Old lights. On the other side of the revival were the New Lights that supported the revival and the new way of running the revival.
In the 1750’s the Great Awakening made it hard on the slaves. Many slaves had to cross over to the Atlantic, but most of the Africans went to colonies of Brazil, West Indies and a small amount came to the United States. Very few of the slaves bought their freedom, however the majority remains slaves.
The impact of the Enlightenment and the Great Awakening colonial society in American was terrifying to the slaves. When slave where capture they were grouped together with chains. Many of the slaves died from heat, hunger, and some jumped over the ship not wanting to live in those conditions. The enlightenment and the Great Awakening were meant for the Good and for one to have freedom. I believed it effected one's faith in the Christian church, not to believe because of the harsh treatment. It also effected the slaves to get an education and to learn another language and it cut them off from the world that they knew.
