Day 6
Thank god for Google docs! This week the group’s task was to create a proposal for our performance. During class we decided to create a Google doc, which allowed all us to collaborate using our laptops at the same time on the document. As soon as Olivia made the Google doc, we started to assign each group member with his or her responsibility. My responsibility was to write about the project development ideas. I wrote about how we included the Brechtian technique into our performance along with audience participation. Since we were required to perform a scene during our proposal, each group member played a role. Josh was the drunken frat guy, Luke was an oblivious, dumfounded teenage girl, Stan was the narrator, and Olivia, Kim, and I were portrayed the audience for this particular scene. Since my responsibility was to write about the project development idea, I elaborated on how we used various techniques. The audience participation comes into effect when Stan asks the audience to tell us what is wrong with the picture and what the characters are doing. This also ties into the technique known as breaking the fourth wall, where the barrier between the actors and the audience is broken when Stan directly address to the audience.
For the proposal development, of the Google doc program helped us out tremendously. It allowed us to collaborate through our laptops from the comfort of our own dorms. This technology helped us input our ideas in a single document, which allowed all the group members to see with ease. Through the Google doc, each member was able to view the other members’ work and also provide beneficiary criticism that helped each and every one of us in a positive manner. This was a very helpful tool in our proposal development because it encouraged tremendous flow of ideas through the keyboards of our laptops, which lead to new and exciting concepts that were developed for our performance such as breaking the fourth wall.

I must be able to shape, interpret and use the elements of drama to create particular effects for an audience. To enhance conflict I decided to place Ruby and Ray upstage so that they have a closer proximity with the audience. I decided to create many pauses between Sylvie and Ray’s dialogue to redefine the conflict. For example when Sylvie says, ‘Ray…? Where’s Ruby?’ and Ray responds with, ‘I don’t know, Sylvie! I don’t know!’ I decided to place the actors so that they’re facing each other with a pause after Ray’s dialogue to show the climatic moment. I decided for Sylvie to imagine the mannequin of Ruby is outside the front under the street lamp so she is looking out into the audience enhancing the conflict revolving around the missing mannequin which she says. ‘The mannequin! She’s not under the street lamp. Somebody’s taken her. Who could be that cruel?’ Sylvie is looking out frantically into the audience making the audience feel uncomfortable and uneasy enhancing the conflict of this missing mannequin. One last way in which conflict is shown is through the body part of Ruby being sent in a parcel and how they don’t know the answers to who sent it and why and how it event got there reinforcing the invasion of a safe neighbourhood. The role of the google drive technology, helped our group keep all our work, in one place for each member to edit and work on. We also used the GROUPME app for team communication. The GROUPME app was a great collaborative technology, because it allowed the team to engage in distance communication. For the unit 3 proposal assignment, our group decided on the topic of making brownie cookies. Daysha was very influential on the assignment, because not only did she come up with our proposal idea, she has lots of experience, and specializes in baking. She also gave me very good answers to questions I had, as well as lecturing me on important details and guidance.…

The next potential benefit of this topic is that you can use your own ideas and make your own decisions. This benefit is very important because everyone wants to be able to have a sense of freedom with the things that are achieved. Everything that is done is from your own thoughts and feelings and no one else has any input unlike with a group. You get to decide what happens with your project alone and don’t have to worry about a group member not understanding or wanting to do something else.…

    I Like You Play Analysis

The three actors portray their romantic relationships through their dialogue and actions; in this way they are able to express their feelings and obstacles in their relationship. In this piece the three actors are also roommates and friends and within each other they also encounter hurdles in their friendship. As the play progresses, the actors “relax” and become facilitators of the talks in which they engage the audience. Through these discussion they are able to give the audience a set up on how to talk about the issues in the play and how the issues need to be resolved. This gives the audience the opportunity to raise questions and give their opinions on how to walk through these issues not just in the play but in real life. The monitors not only guide these conversations but they also give information on the help that students can get on campus if they ever need any help. Having this incorporated in the play shows that the piece is not just set for entertainment but also serves as a way to raise awareness on abusive relationships and how to get…

    Theatre Play Analysis

The sound of excitement was what I heard when I walked in. The sound of proud parents praising their children in the play, the sounds of students dreading their drama ISAs, the sounds of rushed footsteps, the sounds of the crowd settling down, the Sound of Music in its beginning. Last Wednesday, January 27th, 2016 I made my way to the City Playhouse to see my first CHAT school play, and I was looking forward to see what was in store for the audience that night! From the opening of the curtains to the final bows and thank yous of the cast, I was hooked on the convincing costumes, incredible acting, and extravagant sets. This made the audience more interested in the play since there was such a variety of costumes, and it created a whole other…

    Prezi Reflection

Everything started to fall in place when we created a linked Prezi which allowed all four of us to access and edit the group’s Prezi simultaneously and independently at our own convenience. I would say this is one of Prezi’s greatest advantages over other presentation softwares. It was incredible for me to log onto our Prezi presentation at say 11:30 p.m. and see my teammates adding content. I could literally see the Prezi grow radially building up with more connections between major areas of interest. It was tough not to get sucked into one of my partner’s chain of thought as he or she was dynamically appending the presentation. However, these distractions proved to be beneficial when we began texting each other while observing each other’s contribution. Creativity manifested itself in the minor changes we made while we were working on the presentation together. Technology seemed to overpower obstacles such as…
