Introduction

This assignment has been completed as a group exercise. It is in two sections firstly Part A looking at “Managing team and individual performance” and Part B discussing “Meeting stakeholder and quality needs”

Part A - Managing Team and Individual Performance
1 Be able to identify and agree performance objectives
1.1 Explain the links between individual, team and organisational objectives

Performance objectives help plan a particular direction or goal, giving a clear statement of what is required. By ensuring objectives are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely) the requirements to achieve them are clearly defined. They can then be used to initiate, monitor progress and finally help confirm that the objective has been completed.

Starting with the organisational objectives sets the direction for its people to follow. Understanding what an organisation wishes to do or be, gives a clear overall picture that all following team and individual objectives should therefore contribute to. It also creates a shared understanding and “buy in” to the vision, mission, goals and values of the organisation – also known as the “Golden thread”.

For example at InterBulk, the vision of the company is to be the leader within its market, providing long term sustainable growth for its shareholders optimising supplier and knowledge management with focus on people, partners and planet.
