Method Advantages Disadvantages
Uniform
Advantages having all pupils in the same uniform gives the students a sense of belonging and reduces any teasing from other children and families comparing the families financial status. Outsiders can identify clearly that a child attends a certain school if they abscond. The Logo\uniform advertises the standard and ethos of the school. A smartly dressed student sends a positive message to the surrounding community out on school trips and visits out of school.
If the pupil is wearing the schools uniform and the child lets the school down behaving inappropriate this may tarnish the school`s reputation.
Extra costs of badges, bookmarks and book bags (which are part of the uniform) does add extra costs to families and can be an expense.
The logo added jumpers are a lot more expensive and a child who does not have one could feel out of place if most children in his\hers class wear them.
Brochure About the School
Having a school brochure at a New Start Meeting can be shared collectively between staff members and parents any unfamiliar terms and phrases can be explained further to the parents and important information can be highlighted to read in their own time at home.
The advantage having a brochure is families without access to the internet can find relevant information if they need it.
A brochure is a quick way to find schools contact number, or the teachers names and what other responsibilities and roles they have within the school setting.
The Brochure could get damaged or lost this would be a disadvantage to families who do not have access to the internet.
Once the brochure is given out to families and any information has not been added this is a disadvantage because it wouldn’t be a quick procedure to fix it. Making the brochure would be expensive to make due to the amount of paper needed, ring binders and plastic A4 covers for each copy.
