Understanding the nutritional terms

Food:
Any Substance eaten to nourish or sustain the body. Food can be solid or liquid, and can be taken orally by tube or directly into a vein.
Diet:
This is type of food a person eats regularly, it includes all meals and snacks and drinks the individual has.
Meals:
According to the dictionary a meal is “any of the regular occasions in a day when a reasonably large amount of food is eaten.”
Nutrients:
Are the specific chemical constituents of food that provide energy or support growth, repair or normal functioning of the body: Protein, Carbohydrates, Vitamin and minerals are all types of nutrients.

Nutritional Measures and dietary guidelines to identify health issues
Malnutrition
Malnutrition is a condition where the body does not receive enough nutrients to function properly. Malnutrition can include under nutrition and over nutrition. A number of different nutrition disorders may arise, depending on which nutrients are under- or over-abundant in the diet. In most of the world, malnutrition is present in the form of under-nutrition, which is caused by a diet lacking adequate calories and protein not enough food, and of poor quality. Nutritional measures could be taken into account by taking in how many calories they consume within a day and how many calories they actually need in proportion to their lifestyle any sporting activities they may participate in. You could then see whether they consume a correct amount of calories or not and provide nutritional guidelines to help a support them in what they should be consuming to have a balanced diet.

Undernutrition
Undernutrition is a deficiency of calories and other nutrients which is caused by insufficient food or having a medical condition which prevents you from digesting nutrients that you require such as Malabsorption Syndrome, which is a syndrome that prevents you from completely digesting Nutrients from the
