At a workplace where we spend most of our time, we are sometimes faced with unethical circumstances. Some examples of unethical behavior would be having a coworker ask you to clock him or her in or out of work, falsifying documents, or taking something that belongs to the company. It is then we have to stop and ask ourselves is the situation legal? Is it fair? Would I want to be treated this way? Do I feel like I’m in the wrong by the actions I am taking? In the situation Daryl is in we have to ask those questions.
Daryl’s actions are not ethical because he is using company paid employees during work hours to do non related tasks which is also taking valuable time away from the company. It’s also not ethical because he is asking them to do things that are not related to their work. He is making them feel obligated to do it for him or face certain consequences such as complications between them and Daryl, their direct supervisor. It could even give them the fear of being terminated from their job. I would handle this situation by politely letting Daryl know that the tasks he has given to the secretary and interns are affecting the workplace by preventing them from doing their job to their fullest ability. It is limiting the time they have to spend on other employees work related

Ethical issues are going to arise no matter how much of a handle an employer thinks that they have on things. As the CEO of Wal-Mart I would want to be forward thinking and implement certain policies that would hopefully leave us well-prepared for any potential conflicts that were to arise. Handling ethical workplace issues requires a cautious approach to matters which could lead to lawsuits or be publicly damaging. The first thing I would do would be to incorporate a policy where all employees from executive management to housekeeping are held accountable for their actions. Employees would need to know what standards that they are going to be held to and provided a handbook that outlines all these expectations. Secondly I would develop…

With my Bachelors program finished, I have even more insight of other options that may have been considered. The following paper details the experience I had.…
