Understanding the Elements of Geology
Geology Some people always wonder what geology is. Well, geology is the study of the earth. Geology also means what is in the earth such as rocks, mountains, and rivers. Not only that but also how things occur like earthquakes, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Geology is important to us because it helps us discover new things about the earth and help us predict when things are going to occur. Some careers in geology are paleontologist, geochemist and hydrologist. What is a paleontologist? A paleontologist is a person who studies ancient life and ecosystems. Paleontologist also study fossils to determine organisms. But there is more than one kind of paleontologist like micropaleontology, human paleontology, and paleoecology etc. A micropaleontologist study microscopic fossils. A human paleontologist study prehistoric human and proto-human fossils. And paleoecologists study the ecology and the climate of the past. Another geology job is geochemists. A geochemist study geochemical reactions in the rocks and water. Geochemist must understand this information and use it to make decisions about a range of industrial and scientific research applications. They help discover new things about the earth’s crust and its oceans. Geochemists try to explain the process of mantle convection, the formation of planets and the origins of granite and basalt. The last geology job is a hydrologist. A hydrologist is a person who studies surface water flow. Hydrology has evolved as a science in response to the need to understand the complex water system of the earth and help solve water problems. There need to be hydrologist in the world because water is one of the many resources in the world that we depend on. Hydrologists apply scientific knowledge and mathematical principles to solve water-related problems in society: problems of quantity, quality and availability. All the geology jobs in the world mean a lot to us. They help us discover new things in the earth. Without any

Fossils are way for people to know what organisms were like long ago. These fossils show us how some species have evolved and some that did not change and evolve died out. Fossils shape how scientists see the way that organisms have changed through the years. Changes can be seen in the sedimentary rocks. This gives scientists a timeline of when the changes took place.…

The rock cycle is something that a lot of people know. There are a lot of different versions. Some are more complicated than others(OI). The rock cycle can take thousands of years to complete(OI)! Every rock can turn into another rock from every stage(Doc.1). Geology is not just studying boring rocks. There is a lot more to it. You can study rocks to find out how old the rock is or even how old the earth is. You could be the person to find out how long ago a dinosaur by what rock the bones were in. Or maybe you find a fossil of a new type of animal and the rocks can tell you when it lived. Rocks can be a whole lot more exciting than you ever thought.…

Geological process affect our everyday life in that everything that we see or touch has some form of minerals in them. Our laptops, tablets, televisions all have minerals in them. These minerals are known as “rare Earth minerals”. Our homes need to have the best materials to ensure safety, so the hardest rocks or minerals are used. Even things that one normally would not think contains minerals, such as toothpaste and facial care products.…

Geology is the study of the earth's physical structure and substance, its history, and the processes that act on it. Geology is pivotal to the field of Earth science and not many recognize that. More attention needs to be placed on Geology and to give it the attention it deserves the discipline deserves more money. Geology deserves government funding because it is relevant to everyday life and civilization, the opportunities in Geology are strong and on the rise, and because it can help us learn more about Earth.…

The career that I researched was forensic pathology. The job of a pathologist is to determine a person 's cause of death by examining tissues and fluids from the body. A forensic pathologist does this as well, but they are trained to examine people who died unexpectedly or violently and to recognize other things that a regular pathologist might not, such as recognizing something as intentional rather than accidental. They have to determine who the person is, the time of death, the manner of death, and if it was accidental, the instruments which caused the death.…

Which career will get you involved in one of the most exhilarating areas of science? Which one will let you let you deduce how the universe works just by making observations of the sky? Astrophysics, of course! Astrophysics is a branch of astronomy dealing with the behavior, physical properties, and dynamic processes of celestial objects and phenomena. This may have originated from the Chaldeans and Mesopotamians at 5000 B.C. They had discovered patterns and regularities from celestial bodies, which sparked the interest of many scientists. Some famous scientists involved in this branch of science include Galileo Galilei, Nicolaus Copernicus, Johannes Kepler, etc. Such role models spend most of their lives researching on a theory or phenomenon, which is the basis of their lives. However, their research gives them great joy, and no matter how you see it, their lives contain much excitement and benefits.…

    Alchemy vs Chemistry

Some people think that chemistry is just about mixing things up and experimenting in test tubes and explosions. Actually chemistry studies everything around us and how they change, for example it tells what your body is made out of. We study chemistry in biology, geology, engineering, and even physics. Chemistry is the science of matter, and how it changes and its chemical reactions, it's also called as the central science ( the main one) because it connects physics with other sciences. Chemistry is important because it explains the world around you, it explains how food changes when you cook it and how it rots. Chemical reactions occur when you breathe, eat, or even setting down watching the T.V.…
