Understanding Movies
'Understanding movies' was the most interesting class which I have ever taken. People expect many advantages from taking various classes. Some people want to take a sports class to have fun while other people like a science class to enlarge their knowledge. In my case, I could get both entertainment and knowledge form the movie class. Through the use of a couple of examples and specific explanation, I will demonstrate why I liked the movie class most.
First, 'Understanding movies' was enjoyable. School life was always stressful. Whenever I was sick and tired of my major classes such as math, economics and so on, I could relax myself in the movie class. One day, I was so stressed out because I failed a quiz in my math class. But the movie class showed 'Dead poet's society', which gave me a lesson. While I saw some young high school students trying to find the real value of lives, my stress had done away. Movie class entertained me whenever I felt bad during my university days.
Second, the movie class allowed me to have much valuable knowledge. In the movies, there are so many kinds of people, history and culture. When I saw the movie, 'Modern times' by Charlie Chaplin, I could learn the situation of the United States in the early nineteenth century. Before I saw the movie, I did not know what exactly happened during The Great Depression in the U.S.. The movie class was one of the best sources of my knowledge.
I really loved that movie class not only it was enjoyable but also it enlarged my knowledge. Since I found some advantages of watching movies, I have seen so many films that changed my major to film making. I hope that I can take one more chance to attend a movie class in the Unite States. The movie class was the most exciting class

It showed me how our education system worked and how it is controlled. I would also recommend it to someone that is wanting to be a teacher in the near future. This movie will show them the other side of education. The side were teachers are blamed for student success rates and how hard it is to become a good teacher. I feel like teachers have a good concept on why they want to become a teacher but they don’t really know what it takes. If this movie can open my eyes to our educational world then I am sure it can do the same to anyone that watches…

Storytelling is more important to me than anything else, and I believe film is one of the most rewarding and honest forms of storytelling. Ever since I was a little kid I have been in love with movies. When I was nine I got a camcorder for Christmas, and I would make my friends help me remake scenes from my favorite movies, and when they said the lines wrong I would yell at them and make them do it over and over until they got it right or got so annoyed with me that they went home.…

Also with them being able to interpret and express their own feelings about how well or not the film was performed based upon how the novel was written. My expectations were impacted upon the relationship I had developed with the novel as how the article mentions, “ The relationship we have with the book is personal and special: the relationship we have with the movie is more distanced from that, more passive, and certainly less demanding of us”(Jenn4). This perfectly defines on how my expectations were set for the film because i had grown all these feelings in depth as i read along with the novel and so was expected the same when watching the film. I say that having the opportunity to show the student the film after reading the novel is a excellent idea as how the teacher can develop different activities to which the students can take their time to analyze their thoughts with the scenes shown and acted in the film to the novel. This can build so much comprehension to one and really be interesting to…

    Interpreting Films

Based on what I read, Friedrich Nietzsche has many different views about perspectivism. Perspective is determined by communication, the world of “phenomena”, the antithesis of this phenomenal world, and questions. The communication is necessary. The world of “phenomena” is for it to be real. The antithesis of phenomenal world is called the “true world” according to Nietzsche. Last but not least, questions for our understanding. Example provided by Nietzsche: How could we know that things exist? “Thingness” was created by us (569). Each and everyone have there on perspective, which is how evaluation is made. There are no facts; there are only interpretations with meanings interpreted. Reality is based on actions and reactions that we as humans make. “Appearance” itself belongs to reality, according to Nietzsche. The concept applies to all life and the experience of power. Nietzsche shows the theory of matter and how force centers the will to power. A film that I can relate Nietzsche’s ideas to is the Matrix. The theme of the movie is basically to create a “new truth” through choices and beliefs. The connection I see is that Nietzsche talks about a “true world” and the movie the Matrix is about a “new truth”, knowledge, and reality. Questions are also asked about, how we would know the difference between the real world and a dream world. Religion is a huge topic in this film. The film has been a debate and arguement of what religion it actually…

To go into detail in a movie the same way as one might in a book would be painfully difficult. The resulting abomination would be torturously monotonous due to movies very nature, which panders to the short attention spans of the average person by constantly moving and embellishing ideas with pictures and music. It would also be horribly long, the length of, or longer than an audiobook. For evidence, one could look at documentaries and nonfiction books. The former are far less informative, although one may wish to believe otherwise because a documentary film takes less work to enjoy and is, to some, more pleasurable. Take two lectures, both approximately an hour and twenty minutes in length (approximately the running time of a movie) and both by two highly acclaimed authors. The first, by…

It gave a great example of what would have been a controversial event if it would have actually of happened which in my opinion is very interesting. I also liked that i could point out somethings happening in the movie on a legal basis that i would have not been able to point out if i did not take this class. The movie also intrigued me on a legal basis d reminded me a bit about the stand your ground law. It's very interesting to see how the truth can still come out despite evidence not being in favor of the defendant. The case was extremely interesting.…
